I thought about that but Lanarks go that way anyway. I can't see anything that overtakes on the mainine either. Do ScotRail drivers sign the WCML on that section?

Having retired quite a while ago my knowledge might well be out of date, but IIRC Motherwell Drivers signed both the main line between Uddingston Jc and Motherwell, and Lanark Jc/Carstairs, whereas Yoker Drivers signed neither. So 1B84 would have to be a Motherwell turn.

The Glasgow to Edinburgh via Carstairs run direct to Motherwell. The rare track for Scotrail is the bit of the WCML that avoids Wishaw.

Does anyone know why this service is routed via Bellshill and not the WCML route direct to Uddingston? It doesn't call anywhere between Motherwell and Glasgow Central.
I believe it's for Central Conductor route retention purposes. No Conductor is required to be diagrammed for this particular service as it has a Ticket Examiner (TE) but a Conductor is also rostered onto the train to travel passenger to route learn/refresh.

Great, thank you.
