E400s. Rumours of them being up for withdrawal as they're now the only E400s (non MMC) left in the fleet.778/9?

That was normally an indication that a bus from Scarbados had come "home" for repairs and was being run inThis isn't a new thing with East Yorkshire. Back in the 1990s there were always buses running around Hull with Scarborough & District fleetnames.
That was what I first thought ofHave you ever seen how hard it is to right a bus that gets stuck on its back?
Maybe 827 will be done soon as well but he isn’t sure as that’s been parked up in Scarborough for a while. I think 705 may be a round for another couple of months.Presumably the B5 currently in paint shop will replace 705
Daft idea, but maybe cover in case one of those dedicated buses for the 28 goes down... They have similar liveries after allI wonder why theres been no repaint for 20831 yet, are they going to do the other B5s first, looks out of place in that base GNE livery
20988 has been out of action anyway since early July if tracking on Bustimes is to be believed.Daft idea, but maybe cover in case one of those dedicated buses for the 28 goes down... They have similar liveries after all
I hadn't realised we are allowed to be positive on this threadI ended up travelling on a few of East Yorkshire's oldest Wright Geminis the other day and I have to say I was really impressed with how clean and smartly turned out they were. I often find vehicles of that age have faded exterior paintwork, tatty seat fabric (or mismatched patterns where the fabric has been replaced), worn/loose interior fittings, lots of ingrained dirt etc., but I didn't really see any of this with EY.
Also, it was noticeable that every single driver I interacted with was friendly, knowledgeable, courteous and generally a credit to themselves and the company.
All made for a very enjoyable day, and I would certainly be glad to use them again if/when I return to that part of the country.

Gosh, are we...?I hadn't realised we are allowed to be positive on this threadGlad you had a good experience, I have to say I find the same whenever I travel with them.
Troubles? What troubles have they got?Gosh, are we...?
Moderators, is this true?
In all seriousness, @py_megapixel I am glad you loved the day with EYMS because even with all the troubles they have, the drivers for the most part have a real love for the profession
Having the Traffic Commissioner hold a public inquiry into the company with options to discipline under 2 separate acts kind of signifies they're having problems right now...Troubles? What troubles have they got?
Here we are with a revised date.
Public Inquiry (93581) to be held at Quarry House (Leeds), LS2 7UE, Quarry House, Leeds, on 20 August 2026 commencing at 10:00 (Previous Publication2736)) Previous hearing on 11 May 2026 was adjourned. PB0000328 SI EAST YORKSHIRE MOTOR SERVICES LIMITED Director(s): MARTIN RICHARD DEAN, STUART MATTHEW FILLINGHAM, ANDREW BENSTEAD, PAUL CLARK, MATTHEW THOMAS ASHTON 252 ANLABY ROAD, HULL, HU3 2RS S17 - Consideration of disciplinary action under Section 17 (The Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981) S28 - Consideration of disciplinary action under Section 28 (The Transport Act 1985)
Iron-man Leeds. Roads on normal route closed.. Well publicised everyone in the area should be awareAnyone know why the 13:05 X98 took a random, unadvertised detour via the A64 and M1 toward Wetherby today?
I live in Wetherby. The diversion route wasn’t followed, hence ‘unadvertised detour’.Iron-man Leeds. Roads on normal route closed.. Well publicised everyone in the area should be aware
Having the Traffic Commissioner hold a public inquiry into the company with options to discipline under 2 separate acts kind of signifies they're having problems right now...
The fact that they had already delayed said Public Inquiry could either show that the problem is still ongoing or that they're gathering more evidence for the inquiry.No. It suggests they ‘may’ have had a problem (case to be proven at the PI) in the past! That problem may be ongoing, but probably not…..
Or they have been given time to demonstrate the issue has been solved. Being called to a PI under multiple reasons is not rare even for non-cowboy operators, neither is a PI being postponed. The fact that they had already delayed said Public Inquiry could either show that the problem is still ongoing or that they're gathering more evidence for the inquiry.
If the issue has been solved, what's the point in still having the inquiry then?Or they have been given time to demonstrate the issue has been solved. Being called to a PI under multiple reasons is not rare even for non-cowboy operators, neither is a PI being postponed.
If the operator has gone to the TC/DVSA in a pre-hearing meeting and outlined a series of improvements that have been undertaken to address the issues then the TC may decide to postpone to allow the operator to prove they have addressed the matter saving the cost of a full hearing. If a subsequent DVSA visit that would be part of this process finds that the promised improvements haven't materialised the TC can hold the enquiry without having to restart the process again from the start (stops operators delaying by playing the system by making promises without ever taking the full action and forcing a full investigation to be undertaken again). If the issue has been solved, what's the point in still having the inquiry then?
The 2 acts are always quoted and is simply the two pieces of legislation that give the Traffic Commissioners the right right to call an operator to a PI and punish you, they give absolutely no indication of what failure you have actually been called for.Having the Traffic Commissioner hold a public inquiry into the company with options to discipline under 2 separate acts kind of signifies they're having problems right now...
Would that include the sudden purchase of vehicles to the same spec as 97?If the operator has gone to the TC/DVSA in a pre-hearing meeting and outlined a series of improvements that have been undertaken to address the issues then the TC may decide to postpone to allow the operator to prove they have addressed the matter saving the cost of a full hearing
How do you know the purchase was sudden?Would that include the sudden purchase of vehicles to the same spec as 97?
Well, it should be interesting to hear really what happens at the hearing as I am going so will report back as soon as I am out
Probably not for someone like East Yorkshire, buying new buses as a big company doesn't prove improvements in the underlying issues that may have resulted in being called up. A smaller operator who had a very old fleet may be able to show investment in new buses backed by warranty support as an long term improvement in that side.Would that include the sudden purchase of vehicles to the same spec as 97?
Well, it should be interesting to hear really what happens at the hearing as I am going so will report back as soon as I am out
Or that if it was sudden that it wasn't due to other unexpected needs like changes to general business, we keep buying new buses to replace old vehicles getting to the end of their life but we keep winning new contracts that increase or change requirements meaning less is withdrawn than was bought. How do you know the purchase was sudden?
SF, your team are complemented and given rightful praise and you pick out the negative against the standing of the company.Troubles? What troubles have they got?
They were purchased due to the existing fleet on the X46 becoming increasingly unreliable. No idea if its related to the Public Inquiry or not.Or that if it was sudden that it wasn't due to other unexpected needs like changes to general business, we keep buying new buses to replace old vehicles getting to the end of their life but we keep winning new contracts that increase or change requirements meaning less is withdrawn than was bought.
I mean, EY kind of said it themselves:How do you know the purchase was sudden?
When we became aware that a batch of new buses was available from manufacturer stock, we took the decision to invest immediately. Purchasing these vehicles "off the shelf" has enabled us to bring them into service much sooner than waiting for a bespoke factory build, improving reliability, increasing capacity and enhancing the customer experience without delay.
That isn’t strange. It’s not uncommon for the TC to be satisfied that whatever concern they had has been resolved and the hearing can be vacated as it is no longer required.Well, this is strange...
I just had an email from the Traffic Comissioner - or their office at least - in the last few minutes saying that the hearing on Thursday has been vacated and will not be relisted
I agreeThat isn’t strange. It’s not uncommon for the TC to be satisfied that whatever concern they had has been resolved and the hearing can be vacated as it is no longer required.
Correct, it will run as a 58 from Castle Hill Hospital via University to Hull Interchange and then continue to Hessle Square along Anlaby Road. It looks like the 58A & 58B are school services.I'm a little bit confused here, does this mean the 45 to Castle Hill Hospital via the university will be no more as a number 45?
Here’s everything you need to know about what’s changing.
Scarborough
Services 2, 3, 4, 8, 9A, 9X & 28
We’re making minor timetable adjustments to help improve reliability and keep journeys running as punctually as possible.
Services 9, 9A, 9X 10, 10A
We’re adjusting the timetable to improve reliability.
There’s also a change at the Scalby end of the route. Services 9 and 10 will now start and finish at Scalby Post Office, rather than Scalby Road.
Services 7 & 7A
We’re making stopping arrangements simpler and more consistent.
All daytime journeys will start and finish at St Thomas Street.
Evening journeys will continue to start and finish at Westborough.
Service 12, 12A, 12C
We’re changing the route through Scarborough town centre.
From Castle Road, buses will run via Aberdeen Walk, Albemarle Crescent and Westborough, before continuing to Scarborough Railway Station.
Initially, buses won’t serve any additional stops along this new section of the route. We’ll keep this under review and consider whether further changes would benefit customers.
There are no changes to Service 12A.
We’re making changes to 12C school journeys to improve reliability and better match the Scarborough UTC school day.
The 07:05 journey from Bridlington will have additional running time built into its timetable. It will also serve Scarborough UTC from Filey Road before continuing to Scarborough Railway Station.
The afternoon journey from Scarborough UTC will also be retimed at the school’s request.
Service 13
As the summer season comes to an end, the additional shorter journeys between Scarborough and Filey/Primrose Valley will finish for the season. Buses on the 13 will continue to operate hourly between Bridlington and Scarborough.
Service 14
As the summer season comes to an end, our seasonal evening journeys on Service 14 will also finish for the year.
Service L28
The 07:15 journey from Scarborough will run 20 minutes later, helping pupils arrive at school closer to the start of the school day.
Beachcomber 99
There’s good news if you’re heading out along the Service 99 route: we’re extending the seasonal service until 1 November 2026.
Service 99 will run:
Daily until Sunday 4 October
On the weekends of 10–11 October and 17–18 October
Daily from 24 October to 1 November
That means there are even more opportunities to enjoy the route into the autumn.
Scarborough Open Top Tour 100
Service 100 will finish for the season as the summer timetable comes to an end.
Hull
Services 24, 25, 35, 51, 52/53, 54 & 277
We’re making timetable adjustments to help improve reliability and keep services running more punctually.
The new timetables also reflect changing traffic conditions across Hull following the completion of the A63 works, including improvements to traffic flow along a number of our routes.
Service 20
We’re making a useful change to Service 20 in Hull city centre.
Buses will continue to follow their current route to Hull Interchange. From there, they’ll serve the City Centre Loop, running via:
Ferensway → Spencer Street → Prospect Street → Albion Street → Bond Street → Savile Street → Vernon Street → Queens Dock Avenue → Carr Lane
From Carr Lane, buses will rejoin the existing route towards the Park & Ride site.
Service 55
Service retimed for reliability, and will oeprate via the City Centre loop in bot directions again.
Services 56 & 57
We’re making timetable changes to improve reliability, alongside a doubled Sunday frequency between Bilton and Hull.
On Sundays, Services 56 and 57 will combine to provide a bus every 15 minutes between Bilton and Hull.
From Hull, buses will then continue:
Every 30 minutes to Hessle on Service 57
Every 30 minutes to Castle Hill Hospital on Service 56
Together, that means more frequent buses on the shared section of the route and more choice when travelling on a Sunday.
Services 45 & 58
We’re simplifying the network, with Service 58 replacing Service 45.
Service 58 will follow its current route towards Anlaby Road, but will no longer run via Park Street.
Instead, buses will complete the City Centre Loop before continuing to Castle Hill Hospital using the current Service 45 route.
As well as making the network simpler, this creates useful new direct links from Beverley Road to Hull Royal Infirmary and the MKM Stadium.
We’re also doubling the Sunday frequency on Service 58, with buses running every 30 minutes instead of every hour, giving customers more choice and flexibility when travelling on Sundays.
In the evenings, journeys which currently run between Hull and the University will be extended through to Castle Hill Hospital. This means a more consistent route throughout the day, as well as more evening journey opportunities to and from Castle Hill Hospital and destinations along the route.
Service 59
Journeys currently extended to Bridgehead Business Park will be renumbered Service 58.
Services 104 & 105
We’re giving customers more choice between Hull and Cottingham.
Alongside timetable changes to Service 104, we’re introducing additional shorter journeys between Hull Interchange and Cottingham, numbered Service 105.
Together, Services 104 and 105 will provide four buses an hour between Hull and Cottingham during some parts of the weekday and Saturday timetable.
That means a more frequent service and greater flexibility when planning your journey.
Services 78 & 79
We’re extending Services 78 and 79 beyond Hull Interchange.
Buses will continue via Park Street to Anlaby Road (Silver Cod), creating useful new direct links from Hedon to Hull Royal Infirmary and the MKM Stadium.
East Riding
Services X46 & X47
We’re making minor changes to some evening journeys to address timetable issues and help services run more reliably.
Goole Town Services G1–G5 & Service 88
We’re making timetable changes to Goole Town Services G1–G5 and Service 88 to help improve reliability and keep journeys running more punctually.
The changes will also help to address some of the current issues around bus stopping arrangements on North Street,
Further changes coming in November
There will be some further changes to East Riding services in November, following the half-term holidays and the end of the summer season.
We’re still finalising the revised arrangements and will share full details as soon as they’re confirmed, giving customers time to plan ahead.
Bridlington
Service 12C
We’re adjusting school journeys to improve reliability and better match the Scarborough UTC school day.
The morning journey will run up to five minutes earlier and will serve Scarborough UTC before Scarborough Railway Station.
In the afternoon, the bus will leave Scarborough UTC at:
14:45 Monday to Thursday
15:45 on Friday
If you use Service 12C for school, please check the new timetable before travelling.
Service 501
We’re making two changes to weekday afternoon journeys to provide better connections.
Monday to Friday:
The 14:00 from Bridlington Bus Station, which currently finishes at Bempton Lane, will continue from Bempton Lane at 14:33 back to Bridlington Bus Station.
The current 15:33 from Bempton Lane will instead begin at Bridlington Bus Station at 15:00.
York area
Services 82, 83 & 84

Please check the new timetable before travelling, as some journey times may have changed.
