Sorry to see the FC moquette go, but at least they appear to be keeping the standard cushions.
Maybe the pattern was owned by Stagecoach.
It was. The Moquette on South West Trains was the custom “Surbiton Timetable” with Red used for Standard Class and Blue for First. The only reason for it lasting this long is down to the Desiro’s having E-Leather (and new seats in the 444s) and the Diesel fleet being a little neglected in this department.

That, and the fact that SWT used very good quality moquette which lasts much longer than the horrible flat cloth and the astroturf (so beloved of Southern, who have to replace it every 5 minutes...).

Not sure why the standard class seat hand grips are yellow? when they are blue in other 159s and the rest of the south western fleet?SWR have released two new images on their website of 159103's new interior! Overall, I think it looks very smart and certainly makes up for the disappearance of the lovely stagecoach colours.
They have also stated-
It's probably another near zero cost feature to improve safety for those with restricted vision.

Presumably that shows that their first class will retain 2+1 seating, rather than being downgraded to 2+2 as the 444s' first class was (as well as being relocated and reduced in size).

Probably cost too much money for new seats to make it 2+2 and a smaller area.
The 444s First Class wasn't relocated, just reduced in size. It was on the 450s where it was relocated from the centre of the train to behind the cabs

159103 is running today going to Waterloo and back to Salisbury a few times until 6pm

This appeared on the South Western Railway Passenger Facebook group this morning:
"Anyone who was looking forward to the refurbishment of the diesel Class 159 trains, prepare to be severely disappointed!
I saw the first refreshed unit 159103 at Salisbury this morning about to head off to Waterloo.
There are NO at-seat power points in standard class and the faulty passenger information system has not been upgraded. SWR promised both of these but they haven't been done. From what I can see it is literally just new seat covers, new carpets and a lick of paint. Oh, and the aircon wasn't working either.
This is an appalling let-down but then again fully expected from a joke of a train operator like SWR."

They clearly didn't notice, or more likely chose to ignore, the posters that explained that the USB ports and replacement tables would be fitted at a later date and that the unit had been released to traffic early to alleviate the current rolling stock shortage.

I did point this out to the individual. It turns out he wasn't actually travelling on the train, he just 'stuck his head inside the door'. SWR are doing the best they can with limmited resources and having to deal with the SMD situation on the West of England line.

I agree. The problem with social media passenger groups is that more often than not they're just a vehicle for people to rant about the operator and any positive or supportive comments are usually frowned upon.
