Bus services that enter private property (except shopping centres/supermarkets/works only)

In London, where the W3 runs through Alexandra Park it is using a private road (owned by Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust). Most of the time the only sign that it's private is the car parking restrictions, but for a few event weekends each year (the fireworks in November, outdoor gigs in the summer, Red Bull Soapbox Race) they completely close that stretch of road and the W3 is diverted.

The 159 Hodgsons service shows Lightwater Valley, adj car park but can't from memory remember whether it goes onto the property. Sure used to. On the theme park subject, Transdev Coastliner used to run services actually into Flamingo Land but it appears now they all just call at Kirkby Misperton roundabout.

I have a feeling the Hampton Court Road in SW London and immediate environs are technically part of the Royal Estate. I have ridden the 111 many times through there. Presumably that means the 111 goes through private property twice, the other end being Heathrow.

Although the land immediately adjacent to the road may form part of the Crown estate I’m pretty certain that the road itself is owned by the Royal Borough of Richmond. They certainly maintain the parking ticket machines and their wardens zealously issue parking tickets on bank holidays when large numbers of motorists wrongly assume that the yellow line restrictions don’t apply!

The car park at Hampton Court Green is managed on behalf of the royal palace.

It's owned by the MoD and leased to QinetiQ who control access. It's open to the public once a month, pre-booking required. Buses are searched at the entrance barrier.

In former days when the George & Dragon pub was open, you could circumvent this by ringing the landlord and getting a formal invitation - arrival time and car registration required. You could also arrive by private boat at the nearby landing stage.

I once passed through Legoland Windsor premises on the Thames Valley Buses 703. It's also served by the Reading Buses 701/702.

When I lived in Cyprus there was a bus that went from Larnaca to Ayia Napa. This would go through the Sovereign Base Area at Dhekelia.

The access road to the Chepstow Leisure Centre is technically a private street, used by Newport Bus route C2 (plus lots of school buses as it also serves the local school). Though the leisure centre is council-owned, so not sure if that counts. Chepstow & Abergavenny hospitals, and Monmouth & Abergavenny secondary schools also have buses through their grounds.

Phil Anslow Coaches route M3 (then called W3) used to operate through private grounds - it was extended to the Kingswood Gate estate before the streets were adopted by the council.

@Dai Corner and @asb - no problems using the C4 to the last stop in Beachley, but I would recommend not getting off. Someone once did, got stopped by someone military, had to stand directly at the bus stop until the next one turned up, and then had the audacity to complain to the driver!

A slightly different situation; in Pitlochry, Perthshire, the Aldour stop bus shelter is located in the garden of someone's house. I dont know if the owner gets any kind of rent for allowing this.

Coaches also use the driveway at Blair Atholl castle to pick up.

Presumably the internal roads of Airedale Hospital are also owned by the hospital

They're served on a loop by:
2 M4s an hour Keighley to Burnley and return
1 903 an hour in each direction Keighley to Silsden (hospital is on a section off the main route, so the buses in both directions approach the hospital from the same direction).
1 78a every two hours from Skipton, terminates partway round the loop.
1 62 a day from Keighley to Ilkley (and return) diverts via the hospital (2-3 on Sunday).

There's a few other theme parks that have local buses running into the grounds.

The bus stop at Chessington World of Adventures where TfL's 71 starts/terminates looks to be on park property.
Similarly D&G operate services into Alton Towers.

In my childhood it was Windsor Safari Park and we went there on a Timpsons’ coach. My dad wouldn’t take the car there because he was worried that the baboons would pull the wipers off!

I think there are several parts of London like Fitzrovia, the Bedford Estate, Belgravia, Mayfair, Bloomsbury and even Canary Wharf etc. which are technically private across which roads, paths alleys, bus routes etc. run and are used without anyone thinking about it. The right of way maybe maintained by the local authority but the substructure is owned by someone else. I used to work in two premises (not at the same time) in which the basement/cellar/vault extended out under the street, at least as far as the kerb.

The last Southern Vectis Route 9 (non-night bus) goes into Fishbourne Ferry Terminal to serve a stop on the pedestrian exit ramp.

Fairly sure the end section of the Needles Breezer (Alum Bay onwards) is all National Trust.

I guess the key criterion has to be whether the road has been adopted by the highway authority.

London U4 has one end in Prologis Park

Alton Towers also has the X80 operated by Albatross, and Thorpe Park has the 950/951 operated by Sullivans.

Not sure if it counts but the Arriva 6 service between Tamworth and Nuneaton has a stop within the Mira vehicle testing site off the A5. Bus stop is definitely on private land within the complex

Lynx 35 (King’s Lynn to Hunstanton) serves the Sandringham Estate, the road leading to the bus turning loop, as well as the loop itself is listed as being private property

In the mid 90s that would be overstating it.

There were a couple of dozen marked (with white paint) spots for buses to pull into.

No waiting area, as such. I don't know if there was anything more substantial at any other time.

I'm not sure if any particular bus had its own spot - when I went there my bus changed number before leaving.

Bus rallies with feeder services. three examples,
Bournemouth Bus Rally, King's Park, land mostly council owned
Provincial Bus Rally, Stokes Bay, similar situation
Lyndhurst Bus Rally, (22/8) Strawberry Fields, which is between Lymington and Brockenhurst. The site is private farmland owned by the Goodall family

…the feeder services (and other bus routes run in connection with rallies) are rarely registered as local bus services so probably don’t count!
