375/377 - poor quality ride

Hi, having taken multiple trips on 375/377s it may just be my imagination but I feel the ride quality is worse?

You often can hear the wheels like they are bouncing and just the general noise is worse than it used to be, is it the tracks or the trains as some are 25 years old.

Even when they pull into stations they never sound smooth, contrast to a 450 or even a 158

Ride wuality everywhere in the south east is not great at present - the best part of 3 months with little in the way of meaningful rain and hot conditions does that.

Southerns 377s ride pretty well on the Brighton Line, the Arun Valley is a bit more lively especially on/off the long wheeltimbered bridges. As youve also quoted 375s is this on the SE?

Electrostars have always been quite jerky especially if you sit at the vehicle ends. Just an inherent part of their design.

Some other designs are a bit better at smoothing over track or alignment imperfections.

I have noticed this sitting at a vehicle end on a GWR 387, which felt like it was shaking from side to side.

The Heathrow Express 387's can be very lively on the Fast lines, springs bottoms out at least once on the short ride to/from LHR. More a function of the dismal PW condition than the trains.
