Right then, time to clarify a few things and ask some questions based on the discussion above.

99001, after working 4M47 yesterday, should have gone with 99003 on 0F75 from Hams Hall to Leicester. That's why 99003 worked 0F75 Wembley - Leicester via Hams Hall. The post by @Adrian Barr above suggests that this either wasn't recorded in TOPS or didn't happen. So, first question, can anyone please confirm whether 99001 is currently at Hams Hall or Leicester?

99002, after working 4M68 yesterday, has remained at Birch Coppice as I expected. This will go to East Midlands Gateway on Monday morning as 0D72 Birch Coppice - East Midlands Gateway and then work 4L72 East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway on Monday. Then, for the rest of the week, it will be on the 4M68/4L68 diagram again.

Assuming that 99001 did indeed go on 0F75 from Hams Hall to Leicester with 99003 as it was supposed to, one of 99003 or 99004 or 99005 will work 0Z48 Leicester - Hams Hall this afternoon and then 4A47 Hams Hall - Wembley this evening. Whichever 99 works this today should then remain on the 4M47/4L47 diagram all week.

Now for the big question. Where is 99010; Old Dalby or Peterborough? There was an 0Z95 Leicester - Old Dalby working that was cancelled at Melton Mowbray and this was worked by 99008+99010. This was immediately followed by a VSTP schedule 0Z95 Melton Mowbray - Peterborough. I have assumed that both 0Z95's were 99008+99010, but now I'm unsure if this is the case, so can anyone help please?

And finally, 99012+99013. Now, I'm unsure if this is still the case, but the original GBRF plan was 2 99's arriving in the UK every month, but some 99's (such as 99011) arrived on their own. So, assuming that the plan is still the plan, 99012 (either on its own, or with 99013, or with 99013+99014) should arrive in the UK this month. However, if the plan is for them to arrive at Avonmouth this month, they may stay at Avonmouth docks for a while, as Network Rail are replacing a level crossing at Avonmouth docks between the middle and end of the month.

It is a nickname for a nickname.
99 => flake (as in ice cream cone with a Cadbury flake in it) => "ice cream".
So all very confused as it is a specific ice cream not just any ice cream.

99 seems easier as it is meaningful and short anyway.
Flake also has another meaning which may or may not be a happy coincidence depending on their reliability when up to full strength.

99003 worked 0F75 on its own. Passed through Rugby at 13:53.
We know that, after it went past rugby, ut went into hams hall for almost an hiur and reversed out going towards leicester

Railcam says 99001 was on

Allocation on railcam still says 99008 and 99010 but i would be wary of this one because there is no notes so someone may have not actually seen it

If RTT (Real Time Trains) is to be believed, the following has happened:

4L68 Birch Coppice - London Gateway yesterday was hauled by 99002 as far as Wembley yard and then 99004+99002 from Wembley yard to London Gateway.

99004 is now on the 4M68/4L68 London Gateway - Birch Coppice - London Gateway diagram today and presumably until Saturday morning.

99002 has gone on 4E00 London Gateway - Tinsley with 66715!

Can anyone please a) confirm if this is correct and b) confirm that the 66 is leading 4E00 as I suspect and not 99002? I'm also predicting the 99 will be taken out at Peterborough yard but of course that might not happen.

Wnxx website is quoting the following about the next delivery.
The next delivery of Class 99s into the UK is currently envisaged to be between the 12th and 15th with two expected; 99012 & 99013. Shipping is a little erratic at the moment due to the knock-on effects of the on-going conflict in the Middle East.

It would be kind if they could be delayed a couple of weeks, as I’ve filmed them all so far bar the early running 005 & 006 but will be out of the country until Sep 1st. Also Portbury would be nice as there’s better locations to film and less of a shlep than going to Henbury or Avonmouth.

99011 has failed tonight on a container train between Whittlesea and Peterborough due to a seized axle, causing mayhem to the other trains in the area. I think this would have been the first revenue earning 99 into Felixstowe?

Why are they using them on the EMG - Felixstowe route? Compared to the London Gateway circuits already 99-hauled this feels very pointless considering how little is electrified.

I would've expected Felixstowe -> GEML first, but I suppose they have to actually get to Felixstowe in the first place somehow. I believe the increased acceleration on the 99s is a big win with all the single-track sections.

Seized axle on the locomotive or a wagon?

Thank you for this Adrian. I'm not sure if 99007 has come off 4M47 at Wembley or at Hams Hall, but it looks like only 99002 is allocated 4L47 tonight.

It is so as to wind up those of us living London and South thereof !.

Seriously though - I suppose, with 30 of the 99s ordered, there is a chance they will cover more than just predominantly AC electrified routes. GBRF did kindly send one to Tonbridge even !.

Possibly just to move 99011 to felixstowe as it was attatched at Peterborough. Looking at RTT next week there is an altered WTT schedule for 4M13 Felixstowe - Hams Hall, timed at 2400t, 60mph. Which looks like another testing run for 99's.

Thank you very much.

Small update on some things...

99002 - Should work 4M47 London Gateway - Hams Hall today and then either this or 99007 (or both) will work 0G23 Hams Hall - Leicester in the evening.

99004 - Is working 4M68 London Gateway - Birch Coppice right now and then should stay at Birch Coppice until Monday morning when it will work 0D72 Birch Coppice - East Midlands Gateway and 4L72 East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway.

99005 - (I believe from Adrian's post but haven't managed to find any images yet) is actually on DB's TMD at Toton. If it is, it's the 3rd 99 to visit Toton TMD and previous visits have only been for 2 days before returning to Leicester. Therefore, a trip to Toton bank might be worth doing sooner rather than later for anyone wanting to try to see this 99. On Monday evening there is an 0Z07 Toton TMD - Leicester schedule, but I'm not sure if this is 99005 or something else.

99011 - Not a clue what that's going to do next after arriving at Felixstowe!

4M01 London Gateway - East Midlands Gateway and 4L01 East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway are timed for a 99 next week. If this actually comes to fruition, I'm predicting to achieve this 4A47 Hams Hall - Wembley on Sunday evening will need to be double headed 99's for the 2nd Sunday in a row.

Did 99011 actually arrive at Felixstowe? If so then reports of a seized axle further up this topic where somewhat wide of the market. I did see 4L04 lost a lot of time between Peterborough and March so there was a problem somewhere.

99011 was on the rear of 4L04 from Peterborough; possibly a dragging brake rather than a seized axle if it made it all the way to Felixstowe (TOPS suggests it did but not always accurate)

Current TOPS locations:

99001 Leicester (still shown at Hams Hall since 01/08 on TOPS but see earlier posts)
99002 4M47 to Hams Hall
99003 Leicester
99004 4M68 to Birch Coppice
99005 Toton TMD
99006 Peterborough
99007 Hams Hall
99008 Doncaster Down Decoy
99009 Doncaster Down Decoy
99010 Peterborough
99011 Felixstowe

The most likely reason I can think of for class 99s going to Toton would be to use the wheel lathe. I think GBRF generally use the wheel lathe at Roberts Road, although I understand that's an EMD facility, in which case either location would involve the use of 3rd party facilities.

I would think if it had a siezed axel they would have taken it off at march yard
I looked last night on RTT and no reports from somewhere East of Whittlesea until March station.
Plenty of scope for a detour via the yard or a loco sent out to rescue.
Then lost no more time after March until my bed called me.

Just read after I composed that 99011 was on the rear.
