Someone had taken the time to programme the Moorsbus logo into the system but not the actual route number and destination. Even putting a paper slip in the front window would be better than just displaying Moorsbus.
Do you know for sure? The driver could have just entered the wrong code.

I've seen pictures of that very same bus on several other days showing the same thing. Although it is better than when the destination blind is simply switched off.

Any idea which MMC entered service today? Was out using an old ticket machine from one of the GNE loans back in Spring

Believe it was 20950 YN26 FKO temporarily using 4691 MX07 BUV on the ticket machines now rectified.

On the subject of East Yorkshire I’m just wanting some help regarding the Y12 I have heard this service is to get an enhanced frequency as the intention from York City Council was always for a 30mins frequency during the daytimes just wondering if anyone will be able to confirm?

I've noticed that when the 26 plate E400 MMCs are tracking on Bustimes, they no longer show seat availability unlike all other EY vehicles (apart from NatEx services). Does anyone know why?

I've also noticed that more and more of the EvoSeti fleet is finally getting onboard announcements installed and they seem to be working well. I hope that the 66/67 plate E200 MMCs are also having onboard announcements installed but I haven't travelled on one recently so am unsure if onboard announcements have been installed.

Looks like 20947 has entered service today as well.

First operated a half-hourly service on the 12 before COVID. Following COVID, they decided to run the 12 & the 12A. The 12 ran the full route between Woodthorpe & Monks Cross whereas the 12A ran between the City Centre & Woodthorpe. Combined, there was a half-hourly service between Woodthorpe & the City Centre. First would drop the service in January 2023, and City of York Council put out an emergency tender for the service. This was subsequently won by Transdev to provide an hourly service throughout until the end of March 2023. Following another tender, the service was won by East Yorkshire.

The Council always wanted a half-hourly service when tendering in April 2023 but was open to negotiation for an hourly service to keep the 12 going. This was down to operational circumstances. When East Yorkshire took over, they went for an hourly service so the Council had to negotiate with EY and First.

The Council was concerned that an hourly service would mean that the 12 in the morning from Woodthorpe into the City Centre would suffer from overcrowding because of all the school children travelling to school. To overcome this, they negotiated with First to provide a double decker always on a morning journey on the 4. Like the 12, the 4 serves Foxwood Lane, so some demand from the 12 could move to the 4 and with a double decker neither service would be overcrowded (hopefully).

Since taking on the Y12, EY took on the Y14 in November 2024 from Transdev when the contracts were merged. EY has also started adding more journeys between Woodthorpe & the City Centre (seen as the busier section of the route) that are on other duties (usually 80 & 18 but also 747 on Saturdays) to boost capacity.

On a related note, it would be nice if EY could get somebody to reset the M1 display blinds so it doesn't show it goes via Bev Road

On the 822, the destination blind says "Ripon then York via Pocklington". This only happens on the Gemini 2s though, not on the EvoSetis or the MMCs so might be an issue with the Gemini 2s.

To be fair it's technically correct as it goes via Beverley Rd in both Driffield and Hutton Cranswick ;)

Thanks... I thought it might be

Looking forward to attending this as I can't believe things have got this low for the firm. What could the possible penalties be?
Potentially fines, loss of repute for the directors, a reduction in the number of discs on the O licence, loss of O licence etc

Since the previous post was deleted 756 caught fire on a hornsea run last night. Various people have reported it and got pictures of it.

Could they reinstate 698 to cover it?

Is it a full write off?
I suspect it will be a write off given the age of the bus. There are several possibilities, it could mean a reprieve for 698, 705, any of the 90x or 724-6, alternatively the B5 hybrid conversion currently in paint shop could replace it

Do the new Enviros for the X46/X47 mean that EY have canned the bike offering?
Yes

I realise that in this case it was probably expediency, because they needed to get new buses in service as quickly as possible, which is why they've taken standard dealer stock, but does anyone on the inside know how the company viewed the bike buses – was it a worthwhile feature and one they might try again?

Yes - no bike carrying space... Will upset quite a few that take the first X46 of the day to Pocklington from Market Weighton and use the bike to complete their trips to work

I'm not a fan of it as the space can be used to store pushchairs when not in use and avoid arguments when a wheelchair user boards

Hasn’t 698 gone to the scrapyard in Barnsley
Not so far as I am aware... Saw a picture of it yesterday parked at Withernsea and its not come back so far as I can see

Something that was brought to my attention - Stagecoach have nabbed the "traditional" EYMS schools routes

This might clarify the answers given by other members:
As the new buses continue to enter service, they will also mark the end of the cycle storage areas that have been available on the current fleet of X46/7 buses.

The new buses were purchased from manufacturer stock, meaning they were built to a high, pre-specified standard rather than being bespoke vehicles designed exclusively for East Yorkshire. This enabled us to introduce these exceptional new buses much more quickly while still providing an extremely comfortable, modern and well-equipped vehicle.

Over the coming months, we'll be assessing the feasibility of converting the downstairs area to take a second wheelchair user, helping to further improve accessibility for customers. Should this prove possible, there would be no practical space or engineering provision to retrofit cycle storage in the future.

We know a number of customers have enjoyed making use of the cycle storage areas over the years, and we appreciate that some will be disappointed by this change. However, usage has remained relatively low and, when balanced against the significant cost of designing, installing and maintaining a bespoke solution, it isn't an investment that can be justified.

Will they be receiving full fleet livery or is the white front permanent?
I'd assume permanent as the priority atm paint wise seems to be on the Brighton & Hove B5LH deckers and the rest of the GNE ones, along with Beachcomber open toppers that have just been completed

They may do in the distant future but not now I dont think
