I've finally been able to update my account on the GWR app without more than about five glitches on the way. What a glorious way to run a business. I only persevered because the SWR app update has been just as bad but in uniquely different ways! I need one or the other to work to be able to load tickets onto a Smartcard from my phone

The GWR app has cunningly solved that issue for me by no longer showing Smartcard as a fulfilment option for my regular journeys. D'oh!

If it's just loading the tickets onto your smartcard, could you use the GTR, SE or National Rail Smartcard Manager apps?

An annoying change is that you no longer get sent an ICS file to go in your calendar and remind you of your train, which I’ve always found very useful.

Some of us might regard that as a plus. I am fed up with hotels, airlines, TOCs, etc etc all sending emails that automatically put reminders in my calendar, sometimes two or three reminders of the same thing.

Depends on your settings, mine you have to click to file and then add it - if I have an open return and am getting any train that day then I won’t add it, but with an advance it’s very useful.

I like the ICS file also. Much better than having to manually enter the booked train into my calendar.

I’ve just messaged GWR who have said they intend to get this feature back soon, with it already on their radar before I messaged.

This is pretty standard for "replacing existing" IT projects. You do the minimum viable product (80-20 rule, i.e. 80% of the users use 20% of the functionality 80% of the time, so you just implement that bit) and then once people start shouting about stuff that's missing you start putting more back, prioritising the stuff most people are shouting about being missing, and sometimes adding stuff that wasn't even there before because people shout about that more than something that was lost.

New app allows you to click straight through to their new delay repay portal, bringing the ticket details through… incorrectly. And as they aren’t currently sending confirmation emails when tickets are booked via the app, they’ve made delay repay less easy that it was!

Do you know which 20% of the functionality the new ScotRail app implemented from day one?
