There were NUR pockets outside Liverpool lime Street on Saturday morning. I was wondering what they were there for.
Picket at Lime St was to protest against the continued outsourcing of train presentation, catering, station staff etc to employment agencies. RMT want all of those bods brought in house.

Day 2 fighting the exploitation of outsourcing. RMT members on the picket line outside Liverpool Lime Street station as outsourced cleaners and caterers working for Bidvest Noonan and Rail Gourmet continue the fight for pay justice. #EndRailOutsourcing

Going back to the subject of this thread, I pitched up at Piccadilly in mid-afternoon on Saturday to get the first train to Stockport. It happened to be a Pendolino and left on schedule. The only difference at that time was that the gates normally controlled by Avanti staff were open.

Did this dispute result in any train cancellations?

I think there was a few train cancellations but whether these were down to the strike I'm not to sure, also as well as the ticket barriers being left open at Piccadilly the ticket office was shut all day with notices advising potential passengers to get tickets from any of the ticket machines on the station.

Thanks.

Was using my pass so didn't notice that the ticket office was closed

The jobs aren’t outsourced to employment agencies but catering contractors like Rail Gourmet or cleaning /service contractors like Bidvest Noonan or Carlisle Group.

All action at Piccadilly now called off

Speaks volumes about this incident and the individual involved

Discussions between RMT and Avanti to take place to make working relations better

No mention of the person accused of those behaviours
