DRS has announced the sale of four Class 57/3s locomotives.

Direct Rail Services (DRS) is pleased to invite expressions of interest in the sale of a number of high‑value surplus rail assets.

The sale includes four Class 57 locomotives:
• 57304
• 57307
• 57308
• 57309
In addition, a range of associated parts and materials is available, covering Class 57 and Class 37 locomotives, along with MK2 coaching stock components.
This represents a strong opportunity for operators, maintainers and heritage or specialist organisations to acquire proven rolling stock and spare materials from a leading UK freight and logistics operator.
Given the loss of the WC Thunderbird contract and the general lack of work for these locos, this has been expected.

57304 is at Eastleigh Arlington
57307 is at Crewe Gresty Bridge
57308 is at Crewe Gresty Bridge
57309 is at Carlisle Kingmoor

Update on WNXX this morning, 57308 has been moved from Crewe Gresty Bridge to Crewe DMD by 20118 & 20132 presumably for LSL, while WCRC are indicated to have acquired 57304 which is at Eastleigh Works and ROMIC are indicated to have acquired 57307 (Crewe Gresty Bridge) & 57309 (Carlisle Kingmoor)

* Updated 10th July - reported on WNXX that 57307 & 57309 have been secured by GWR not ROMIC

Suggested today that ROMIC have indeed taken ownership of 57307 & 57309 as originally reported, perhaps that could mean them working Thunderbird duties for Egyptian Railways in due course ........

Romic have stated they have acquired 57307/9 so no “suggested” about it.

Not so suggested but confirmed. Romic put out their social media post yesterday confirming that those two are now theirs - and are to be used largely as their two 20s currently are, but can also be available for Railtour use (with GBRf using theirs for the forthcoming LU moves and H+H 50 being out of use, i can see the Romic 57s working with ERS Mk2s).

Still hearing rumours of 93's for the riviera going forward
You need to stop listening to rumours, then. Because a 93 is utterly incapable for the sleeper after the wires run out.

Two in a pair penz to rdg run one round to the back into pad, but I was told they still need the 57 for the EH so I don't see the benefit myself
