Avanti have emailed today to say they’ve cancelled the last train tomorrow from Euston to Birmingham, which we were due to travel on.

We now have to cut our plans short to ensure we get the one before, but if Avanti had not sent the email and we turned up for our original departure time, what would be our rights and are they negated by the fact Avanti have emailed about the cancellation in advance?

They've also cancelled the last southbound from Glasgow tomorrow, only running Preston-Wolverhampton instead of Glasgow-Birmingham.
So guess I'll have to head back early.

Your rights would have been unaffected by being informed of the cancellation in advance. It's helpful of them to give you more notice but you are still entitled to alternative transport (which it appears they're running) or failing that, overnight accommodation. Plus Delay Repay of course.
