It's a very small minority, as with all age groups, free travel will make no difference...
I can't say my son or any of his friends have ever set fire to a bus or field.
Not an uncommon problem. Transdev had the same in Harrogate Bud Station as the necessary electric supply had not been provided by the utility provider.Oh goodie, more feral scumbags.....I mean little darlings inflicted on the rest of us. If only a condition of the 'free' travel was for them to be bound and gagged.
Turns out the new green buses aren't that green and are being powered by electricity from a diesel generator.

Surprisingly none of the 26 plate York buses are in service today as at 9am

The same is also being experienced by Stagecoach in Exeter IIRC.
It is a temporary fix until the utility company sort their side out. The alternative is to have vehicles stored for months.

Just blatantly bigoted and offensive. Who knows, maybe giving them the chance to do something will reduce the number of them that cause trouble because they're bored and having nothing to do.
That isn't uncommon when buses are new – Transdev were doing the same thing in Harrogate when they first go their Volvo 7900Es until the power supply to the depot was properly upgraded. It's fine, because (a) the carbon footprint of running a diesel generator to power battery-electric buses that have regenerative braking is still lower than the carbon footprint of running diesel buses, and (2) the buses are still zero emissions when they are running on the streets past pedestrians and people's homes and workplaces, so the impact on local air quality overall is positive.

Erm, it's neither. Gangs of teenagers on sink estates causing issues for buses is already a problem in the area; they now have a free playground for a month.
Is the often trotted out excuse, but it isn't good enough. Funding for these vehicles was allocated over 2 years ago with further council cash for the charging points. Still, I know better than to expect public money being given to a private company to deliver results. It's a collective failure of all concerned parties.
It's the same story with Tap On Tap Off which was partially funded by taxpayers and failed to work correctly in it's first week of operation.

The issue is the National Grid connection, quoted connectional times are often in years (this is a major issue for London at the moment with reports of significant numbers of electric buses in storage as the depot connections are awaited) and this is affecting all sectors not just bus operators but because electric bus order timescales are much smaller than planning permissions and construction of factories or data centres.
It is probably better to get the new buses into service when they are available, even with new bus lead times it is much quicker to build and deliver a bus than connect a depot to the grid with the right infrastructure to run them, and replace the older buses than leave them parked in a field somewhere waiting for that final connection to be made (our electrics were ready about 6 months before the final works, the grid connection, was finished and our connection required very little work as the high power line ran outside the depot). East Yorkshire appear to have been slightly unfortunate on top in that the company contracted to do the actual connectional work went bust which delayed everything further.

Smearing them with insults helps no one. Meanwhile, the majority of young people will benefit from this to travel to meet up and socialise or get to their summer job.
Reading these comments about teenagers, it sounds like some people really need to get out more and stop being so narrow minded.

I've got a challenge for you, which I think is very fair. So one Friday night when ever you're free, visit the following Leeds suburbs and report back how many good interactions you have with those you say shouldn't be tarnished. Belle Isle, the rougher parts of Middleton (Thorpe Lane etc) and Beeston Hill, then on Saturday night visit Gipton, Seacroft and Swarcliffe. I look forward to your change of mind lol.

I'm not saying that people who commit antisocial behaviour shouldn't face consequences. What I'm saying is that branding all young people as "scumbags" and calling for them to be "gagged" is outlandish and unfair to the vast majority who do not commit antisocial behaviour. I'm sorry you've had bad experiences but I hope that you can see that not all young people are "scumbags." Comments by yourself and others come across as extremely ageist.

I don't but I have been on a bus through Seacroft on a Sunday evening. The worst offender was someone vaping. At no point did I feel unsafe or threatened.
There's also Harehills, Hunslet, Horsforth or Pudsey since Go Ahead took on the 30, 61 & 61A.

Been through Seacroft multiple times on a Sunday evening and the only offence was vaping on one bus. I didn't feel unsafe or threatened once on any of the buses I caught. I doubt that this family were on holiday in May, June and September.
Anyway, 20950 is now in service on the X46 corridor.

I believe 909 has just been PSVd for another year, so there must be plans for their onward use and not scrap.

Perhaps they're waiting for more 26 plate E400 MMCs to enter service so they can be withdrawn. Probably along with 705, 724, 725 & 726.

Wouldn't surprise me, looks like they're getting rid of all E400s (non MMC) as well as the B7TLs.
Looks like it will hang on until another 26 plate Enviro enters service then.

None of these withdrawn buses will see the road again with EY. The ADL Enviro 400's are being sold or cascaded across the GoAhead network.
