Buses with East Yorkshire are numbered 20xxx, 21xxx with Procters, 22xxx with Compass, 23xxx with Esk Valley and 24xxx with Fourways.
When with East Yorkshire, BT65 JGY had fleet number 20387, its now with Fourways for Go Ahead West Yorkshire so now has 24051.

The dual door Optare Olympus are also off, with 20995/7/9 all delicensed.

I tend to agree. This new numbering system seems counterproductive when (I assume for the same reasons as Rotala, Stagecoach and First) the aim is greater clarity on individual vehicle costings. Swapping a vehicle between Proctors and Compass necessitating a fleet number change seems regressive.

First famously said it was a number for life... Well, some vehicles did get renumbered very early on, and more recently, they have reissued some numbers that were used 15-20 years ago.
I can't work out the logic for it; as I said, it does run contrary to what you'd think the objective is.

BU16 OYE (B8RLE MCV Evolution) is currently 20392 but is based at Compass for Saturday Moorsbus duties. Its also recently been with Procters and Fourways. Confusion would be putting it lightly.
Transdev Blazefield also keep the same fleet numbers across all of their operators in Yorkshire & Lancashire.

Now the schools have finished, I don’t think we will see these on the road again.
Of the 5 originally that were used, this is the one which had the least amount of issues. I believe it is temporarily still licensed to cover any short falls on the Scarborough open tops whilst the last 2 are still having work done at Anlaby Road.

Seem to more obsessed with pointless fleet renumbering than being helpful to passengers by getting destinations and routes properly programmed (i.e. Fountains Abbey etc). Somewhere possibly in a trash bin now rather than an inbox will a request on what format they want service numbers shown on the new North Yorkshire Council bus stop flags that Transdev have played in a big part in. Connexions and 21 Transport services are included on them in Harrogate and Knaresborough but absolutely no mention of GoAhead services including in Boroughbridge where on shared stops only Transdevs 21 is shown.

Fountains Abbey destination blinds have now been programmed. No timetables in Green Hammerton, only for DalesBus and Transdev 22/23 that ended in 2024! Timetables for 82/83/84 weren't updated at Ripon Bus Station, someone from DalesBus has stuck the new one on top of the old one. Timetables in Boroughbridge for 82/83/84 are just placed under those for the 21 covering the route map. Don't even get started on service updates...

I'm struggling to work out what the driver was trying to do to end up in the position. But whatever the reason, it does highlight the problem of using tri-axles that some people have been calling for on other threads, when a lot of routes are not suitable for them.

Sure, but geography doesn't care what the bus is being used for, if it doesn't fit then it doesn't fit. Even if the route the buses are supposed to be used on is cleared for a larger vehicle, that doesn't mean it won't ever be diverted off route, and unlike double deckers where height restrictions are required to be marked, this kind of issue won't be signed.

I bet East Yorkshire have learned a lesson there, never send a long coach into the Pennines because you never know if they'll clear every hill lol. As a side note, I remember Marks and Spencer had a policy of never allowing it's delivery contractor to use the double deck trailers during the day. If one grounded during the day, the chaos wouldn't look good for the company, more people are likely to see and photograph it, and it ends up staying where it is for longer as it's much easier and quicker to recover overnight with less traffic.

Slightly simply a ferry lift is an optional setting that many PSVs have which when activated raises the clearance of the suspension above the normal setting (the opposite of dropping the entrance to ease loading) raising the vehicle and making it easier to negotiate steeper road angles. More common on coaches, the name comes from its frequent origins as necessary to negotiate ramps such as used boarding or alighting ferries.

You won't be saying that if they decide to set fire to your bus, just like they set fire to fields, trees etc. I personally would amend this scheme to say 'free travel if you're with your parents or an adult who will fully take responsibility for your actions'.
