No, 51 is how many that there should have been this week. I admit that it is quite difficult to keep track when there has been this discrepancy between the number of booked diagrams and the number of units actually operating on them, that has slowly widened over the last month. If there is a new diagram next week, then it will be 52.
It feels somewhat academic whether we're not fulfilling 51 or not fulfilling 52 when the end result is that I've not been on a 701 in over a week. It would be nice if the 458s could be juggled around a bit so that the crappy aircon is shared amongst all passengers!

wonder is this a 10 or 5 coach? as the 701/0 can be split in the centre coach
Bound t be a 10car (701/0) split between coaches 5 and 6.
Wheel lathe and bogey drop/roof equipment crane need the 10s splitting.
Yes, that is my understanding.
Thats only going to be a 10 coach 701 being split into a 5.
Yes. the 5car (701/5s) cannot be ceasily split AND they do not need to be split.

I remember it being said something along the lines that the 701/0s are effectively two 5car 701s but with the cabs missing at the inner end.

They are and you'll find the two delner couplers and the two sets of combined headlight, tailight and markers on the two halves

The coupler of the 701/0 differs as seen in these 2 pictures

I notice the gangway connection is different unsurprisingly. But does that mean the coaches are a wee bit further apart or are coaches 5 and 6 a little shorter to counter that ?.

Probably not necessary. Two x /5 are suppsoed to be exactly the same length as 1 x /0 - that was the point of the different cab design compared with 710s and 720s. So the doors would be at the same place on the platfoprms regardless of which subclass the trains were formed of. GA got round the same problem by changing the order to be all 5-car

5 and 6 end coaches are just differently arranged to accommodate the couplers, rear end cameras, lights etc. The lengths are of the two 701 half units in the 701/0 are indeed the same as if they were two 701/5s together

Yep, the 93s and 701510 meant to got to Derby are still there circa 13:00. That's two weeks iirc ?. They must be wasting space - even if a non 3rd rail siding.

It makes me think 93s delivering to the South Western anymore will not be likely. Certainly been 37s since the 93(s) encounter with the tree branches. Even hired in Europhoenix 37510 today instead of 37884 last week.
I just saw 701513 being dragged through Twickenham at about 12:42.

Alt text: video shows the back of a 701 513 passing through Twickenham platform 5 (towards strawberry hill) at speed.

Towards Feltham and Chertsey, not the short way round via Strawberry Hill.

I wonder why the path is booked the longer loop out via Chertsey ?.

These two in the system for Thursday 23/07/2026.

5Q78 Bicester to Wimbledon.

then

0M57 light locomotive to Derby

It looks like they prefer to bring one at a time - perhaps it is a lot easier than hoping to get two 701/5s to talk with the locomotive at the same time ?.

I think 710506 & 701513 were supposed to be the pair coming last Tuesday (which of course ended up as 701523 alone but two days late).
