Seems sensible to me, especially with the World Cup and I am sure, a high sickness and annual leave rate that is purely coincidental! Nice weather over summer also understandably makes staff less keen to volunteer for overtime, so it is pragmatic to advertise a reliable but slightly slimmed down service over this quieter period, and in any event, you will also have 6-car Lumo express services on the West Coast, who I am sure will be more than happy to take this opportunity to win over some new passengers!

There's obviously a cast iron guarantee that these services will return too - they'd lose the paths otherwise and open access will happily point this out, and there is no way DfT / DfTO / GBR will let that happen. Seems to be some conspiracy theories that these cuts will end up permanent, but it is incredibly unlikely.

Let's hope so, this is my main concern.

I see one of the cuts on the Manchester just happens to be the 09;33 from Euston to Manchester, which is the first train where offpeak tickets are valid on.

So no doubt the 09;53 service to Manchester will be even busier than usual, as no doubt they wouldn't have put in any easements to use the extremely lightly loaded 09;13 (using the reservation level displays at Euston).

The 09:53 was cancelled today, so everyone probably got deferred to the 10:13 :'(

That is quite inconsistent though, with random two hourly gaps in services on the Manchester via Crewe for instance.

Unless it hasn't all loaded in yet.

It seems to be leaving three hour gaps in the MKC-Birmingham semifast service including at quite busy times, as the fast services are not gaining replacement calls. This seems a bit poor and includes the main BHM-MKC commuter services at 1721 and 1821.

I can see sense in returning to the one fast, one semifast approach in quieter hours, which is what I thought they would do, but two fast and no semifast, leaving Watford, MKC and Rugby with long gaps, is quite poor. They have literally just lopped diagrams out with no concern for what gaps that leaves at local stations.
