There is a course starting in September with 4 Chester and 4 Crewe and believe there is one in October but unsure of depot split. My trainer told me that September is his next course

I was speaking to two conductors a few days back, one was a trainee. Asked if they had any information of new courses etc and chances of getting the call before time runs out
They mentioned there’s a loads of courses lined up for next year so shouldn’t be an issue getting in. Hopefully those courses are booked in for early next year though otherwise still a lot of people will fall out

It was quite general so unsure where they’d be located sorry. But as we were on Cardiff mainline he could have been talking about south

Not too bad, but could have done better. Think there were 3 questions if i remember rightly. You were given two minutes to answer and record your answer. The first question I answered well, but the other ones I did struggle somewhat as they didn't ask me any questions which I had prepared for which took me back (unless it was how they were worded).

I have a family member on a course at the moment, apparently 9 courses next year and a lot of people on their course would of dropped out in May/June but were offered a course in March for July so there is hope!

Yes it's relatively new, as this wasn't required last year for the same role. I asked, they said brought in ~6 months ago ish

Hey, I’m a Train manager on the Cardiff Valleys line in my second week qualified. From speaking to some of my colleagues, Applications for the south should be coming out in September. The plan for next year is to run between 8-10 courses to fill up the valleys as we are extremely short. Anyone looking to apply then they have changed the application process from being huge 300+ words written questions to only 6 multiple choice and having a look, the questions are relatively simple. If anyone has any questions or needs advice then let me know.
This may be true for the application, but I wouldn't necessarily say the process is easier by any means. You now have to do an error checking test and sit a video interview which can be challenging. I'm sure that does whittle down the numbers.

I remember from those questions, I was told by managers that they instantly rejected applications that were not within the word limits. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing that it was changed. Apparently it was a way of determining peoples attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

I'm currently sat in the talent pool like many others. I interviewed for mainline. Do you know if there would be an option to swap to valleys if they need the staff?

I emailed the recruitment team and stated I would be happy to be considered for Valleys also and they emailed back saying they have noted it on my application

Do we have an accurate number of people waiting in the south now? 8-10 courses next year is the rumour. So just trying to build some hope up I guess ha
We don’t need to start a course within the two years right - but be offered a place in one, which could be past the 2 years, is that correct?
