Guildford to Royal Marsden Commute

Hello! Might be commuting to the Marsden in Chelsea from Guildford, what's the most optimal route? Either at 8am or 9am tbc

Waterloo - > Embankment - - > South Kensington
Waterloo - - > Westminster - - > South Kensington
Clapham Junction - - > West Brompton - - > South Kensington
An alternative route???

Please also take into account 'busy-ness' of routes and potential alternatives during strikes.

You guys know way more than me and I'd like to consider all possible options. Thank you!!

Agreed if the train from Guildford stops at Wimbledon. Bear in mind though that a change at Earl's Court might be needed if the first train is for Edgware Road.

South Kensington Underground Station is about to be redeveloped, I'd expect there to be closures and/or limited access during the rebuild.

I've listed alternative routes if it's closed, although you could just walk from Gloucester Rd station:
Bus route 49 goes from Gloucester Rd station to Onslow Sq (2 min from Royal Marsden).
Bus route 49 and 345 goes from Clapham Junction/Falcon Rd (stop F) to Onslow Sq (route 49) or Royal Marsden Hospital (route 345).
Bus routes 14 and 211 go from Fulham Broadway station on the District line to Royal Marsden Hospital.

I go to the nearby Imperial College from Guildford regularly. My preferable route would have been Guildford to Clapham Junction, then walk (or cycle) to Royal Marsden. It is only 2 miles. Healthy, money-saving, and hassle free. It would have been definitely faster than Wimbledon route, and maybe even faster than Waterloo route. It would help to avoid some crowds, too. On return, I would probably walk to Victoria and take a train from there, changing at Clapham Junction. This could be done combining Oyster Victoria - Clapham Junction with return Guildford - Clapham Junction.

In case there are bad problems on the rail line, there are buses from Guildford to London Victoria that stop at Wandsworth Town. That would be my back up plan.

Peak hour fast trains between Guildford and Clapham Junction and vice versa are as rare as hen's teeth. Guildford to Wimbledon requires either (1) an almost all stations journey via the New Guildford line or Epsom, (2) the Portsmouth main line with changes at Woking and Surbiton - calling most stations in the peak or (3) the occasional most stations through trains by the latter route. Obviously doing the OP's journey via Waterloo is more expensive.

Not sure about hen's teeth, but there are the following morning peak time trains 06:24 - 06:57; 06:43 - 07:12; 07:01 - 07:32; 08:34 - 09:05. Each calls at Worplesdon and Woking. I would probably be taking 07:01 one, this would allow me to get to Royal Marsden at about 08:15am.

Just sticking my thoughts in, there is according to Real Times Trains an 08:04 (2G18) train to London Waterloo, calls at Wimbledon 08:50 and Clapham Junction at 08:58. From Wimbledon, District line to Fulham Broadway (no need for a potential change of train at Earls Court) and then Tfl Bus 14 or 211 to the hospital, journey about 10mins. Or the District Line to South Kensington, (Google Maps says .3 of a mile walk) I wouldn't involve West Brompton as its a 1.2m walk and even with a change at Earls Court would be a less effort overall to continue to South Kensington.
Staying on the service from Guildford to Clapham Junction gives you the onward option of using TfL Bus 345 to the hospital.

The marsden has two sites, one at chelsea and the other at sutton. The interview was at sutton so I drove. Will keep trying o7
