Much more effective for DTMs to conduct spot checks at handover points by asking the driver to demonstrate that their device is switched off. Word gets around and people are less likely to risk it.

Fair point, I've probably misinterpreted the purpose of the survey. It's still a concern though if 40% think they wouldn't be caught so the temptation is there. And the 18% who think using a mobile doesn't affect performance are simply ignorant - we demonstrably know that using a mobile is a distraction even from walking down the street, let alone from driving.

I am wondering if this has any relation to the Norwood incident . Perhaps upon review New Cross also had the wrong ramp.
