What is the highest fare on a contactless pay as you go or a smartcard pay as you go system in the world? If there is somewhere that does £150 singles on contactless pay as you go then it would be interesting to see how they do it to see if it can be copied in GB.

I've no idea worldwide, but Bletchley to Reading Peak via Zone 1 is £51.70 or £51.30 if you avoid Zone 1.

There's a sign at many (I want to say all?) ticket machines at any LO/LU/XR station entitled "Paying for your journey at this zone x station". I haven't had a detailed look (recently), but I'm pretty sure it includes the cost of travel (Contactless/Oyster/Tickets) from that station to any other zone1-8 station and details about capping and how to use oyster, etc.

Not sure/don't remember if they can be found at DLR stations; and they're definitely not present (no equivalent) at NR stations.
Having a hard time believing that stations don't display the PAYG fares for common journeys. Surely they must do or this is something they shoul dbe required to do.
Those are the newer posters to which I referred. They started appearing a few years ago.

A brief look at the disputes forum can illustrate why that attitude has arisen, though. There are a notable number of people who think they've discovered a lovely little wheeze where they buy a cheap single at the country end- but only if the barriers are closed- and just tap in/out at Liverpool Street.
While that may be your opinion, and it may be a opinion of someone in TfL or DfTO, it's still not a fact. It's purely your opinion. It's not a genuine concern of the 99% of law-abiding passengers.

I had a missed tap at Twyford that took over a month to arrive. I am 100% certain that I made the tap as well, because I remember using the card, seeing the green light and hearing the beep. It did eventually show up, after I'd already complained about it.

Do you by any chance have documentary evidence of this? Like journey history without the touch dated long after it was made, then a version with it? Failing that, can you share the dates concerned?

Kidbrooke has been my goto example of delayed touches where building work held up data for a couple of weeks before it all magically appeared. This sounds (a) much worse, and (b) more recent.

In Denmark*, you would pay DKK 638 (£72.80, 2nd class) or DKK 818 (£93.34, 1st class) for the almost 8 hour journey from Malmo C to Skagen.

* Ok, it's a cross-border journey from Sweden into Denmark, but it's using the Danish PAYG system.

I've got this showing the date (05.12.20), missed touch before it was corrected and the exit time at Slough which was accurate (1148), if it's useful.

Unfortunately, I don't have anything specifically showing the later automatic addition of the touch.

It isn't recently unfortunately.
