Nice one @waverley47, although the following still need to be changed:

Avanti West Coast

"Hitatchi"

should be

"Hitachi"

East Midlands Railway

The first 810 to be accepted into the fleet was 810008 on the 8/8/25 (as reported by RAIL magazine).

London Northeastern Railway 897s

"delivery expected from 2027" should be "delivery originally expected from 2027, now 2028-2029", due to one of the 897s' supplier's factories flooding" (CAF Newport had to take on assembly of the Israel trams/trains to keep the factory open until assembly of the 897s can begin)

Transport for London Elizabeth line 71st-80th 345s
"Contract awarded 14/06/24"

should be

"Contract awarded 14/06/24. Construction started by August 2025 (confirmed by Rob Whyte of Alstom to ITV News' The Greatest Gathering programme)".

Transport for London (other)

Docklands Light Railway - CAF B23 Stock started to enter service on the 30/9/25

London Underground - Siemens 2024 Stock is test running in 2025 and is expected to enter service on the Piccadilly line in late 2026

Transport for Wales 197s

"67 units accepted for service
41/51 two car units and 26/26 three car units"

should be

"70 units accepted for service
44/51 two car units and 26/26 three car units"

Transport for Wales 756s

"2All units accepted for service"

should be

"All units accepted for service"

West Midlands Trains 'LNwR' Class 730/2s

"Delivery underway, units expected in service from June 2025"

should be

"Units started to enter service on the 9/6/25"

Also:

You need to move the 350/2 withdrawal from the London Northeastern Railway section to the West Midlands Trains (encompassing London Northwestern Railway) section.

The Avanti entry needs to be updated - all the 807s are now in service
There are a lot of things that need to be updated (see post #63), but it seems that more updates than not by @waverley47 don't include any of the things I mention in my posts (for some reason).

Yes, that's already pretty well advanced:
No it's not - see the London Northeastern Railway 897s section of post #63.

Yes, I don't update this as much as I should, however it's a lot to keep track of, especially with my current responsibilities. It's also a pain to update the table on a mobile, which means I have to sit down at a computer do manage it.

I'll see if I can get it updated tonight.

All SWR 455s have left the SWR fleet, with one preserved (455 871)
458s are planned to be withdrawn and replaced by 701/5s

as far as I am aware, 158s and 159s are planned to be eventually withdrawn and replaced by a "planned" Desiro Verve fleet, feel free to correct me if the info is wrong.

I don't think there's been any confirmation over what fleet will replace the 158s and 159s. Desiro Verve is just a product Siemens is proposing.

Minor point, but I believe the ex-Marston Vale 230s have left Reading Depot and are now at Long Marston, and 175s are now in limited passenger operation with GWR.

Thank you for keeping this thread up to date by the way, it's a great resource :)

No it was at Leamington Spa
Today 196009 is one of the trains running Leamington-Nuneaton services today.
It has not ran any passenger services with Chiltern, but was re-coloured in preparation for operation on East West Rail, so is in Chiltern colours.

have WMT purchased some ex Chiltern stock?
No, Chiltern were meant to be using loaned WMT class 196s on East West Rail, however as there is no start date for this units that were with Chiltern have gone back to WMT to help with increased resource requirements.

That makes sense as the inside of the train was WMT purple/ orange but outside was blue

I'd have thought there would have been an update to the master list by now, given that so much stuff has happened since March

350/2s to Northern with intentions of replacing their entire 323 fleet.

Yes, several updates are needed:

Great Western Railway

Class 175 started to enter service in December 2025.

Lumo

The Hitachi units on order are Class 808.

'Stirling Trains' is Lumo (West Coast).

Northern Trains

37 Class 350/2s will start to replace the 34 Class 323s from late 2027, with £25million allocated to the Class 350/2s for refurbishment, Automated Selective Door Opening fitment and door speed modifications.

Transport for London

Elizabeth line 345071 has finished build and has been tested by Alstom and driven by YouTubers at Derby Litchurch Lane Works in 2026.

DLR B23 Stock started to enter service in September 2025, was withdrawn with braking issues in November 2025, and is planned to re-enter service in a safe state by late Summer 2026.

Transport for Wales

76 of the 77 Class 197s have been in service (50 of the 51 2-car units and all 26 3-car units). 197039 has not yet entered service but has been used on Cambrian crew training. Class 197 service on the ETCS-signalled Cambrian railway is expected to start in Autumn 2026.

Class 398 started to enter service in late June 2026, initially only between Pontypridd and Cardiff Bay on weekdays between 0655 and mid-day.

Tyne and Wear Metro

All 46 Class 555s delivered as of February 2026; 36 Class 555s accepted and 'have been in service' in July 2026. Suspension issues found and safety checks carried out on some Class 555s in July 2026; at least two 1980 units 'unwithdrawn'.

West Midlands Trains

All 48 Class 730/0s in service

All 36 Class 730/2s in service

Whilst all 48 730/0s have been in service, only 32 of the 730/2s are in service: 730201, 202, 204 and 227 have not been in service yet.

Can't forget the SWR updates either:
all 158/159 fleet units are undergoing a full refurbishment program
458/4s due off fleet by 31st July (14 left in service out of 28 as I speak)
all 455s now withdrawn for scrap bar 455871 which is preserved and I believe another unit was split up and some of its cars were sent to a training place of some sort
all 458/5s withdrawn with all in storage apart from two sets at Wimbledon awaiting transfer to storage
55 out of 60 701/0s in service
15 out of 30 701/5s delivered to SWR from storage but all 701/5s not in service yet

Updated July 2026 to reflect 350s to Northern, and updated numbers of introduced units.

Let it not be said that I am omniscient, I am rarely down south of the Thames and I've been busy with consultation work for things going on north of the border. I can only keep track and update the list when people let me know things have changed, so people sending updates is very helpful.

We appreciate you updating the list, but you've updated to the 197s to 50/51 2-car and 26/26 3-car that have been in service but you haven't updated the overall number from 70/77 to 76/77.

Also, I believe the 555s are 46 delivered, 36 accepted (rather than 46 accepted).

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

The total number of 197s that have been in service has been changed to 77, it should read 76.
