Train chaos compensation?

So my Avanti train left Euston for Glasgow at 19:30 but due to the cancellation of the earlier 18:30 the train was heaving, the train was declassified, seat reservation cancelled and it was packed standing room only for what turned out to be a 3hr journey. I had a Standard Premium ticket but had to stand. What should I expect to be able to claim for having to stand all the way instead?

Where did you alight and how delayed were you as a result?

If you had a seat reservation, you should be able to get something from them. And even if you didn't, given you were in standard premium it's worth asking. I think you'd get on to their customer services but others might have more specific advice.

I got off at Preston and the train was (is expected to be ) 40 minutes late. So I can do Delay Repay for the delay compensation but what is reasonable to expect for no seat compensation?

You can claim for the difference between standard premium and standard. And that's on top of the delay repay. Your best bet is to not claim from the website form, and instead submit a manual complaint for it all to be considered together.

Echo the above, I was once on my scheduled train to Glasgow. Previous train cancelled and people who sat in my reserved seat wouldn't move. I contacted customer services explaining the situation and was issued with refund/voucher (can't remember which).
