Was an Elizabeth Line-Victoria Line interchange ever considered?

Recently I was thinking about how the Elizabeth Line doesn't feature easily on cross-London journeys to places like Victoria and, from the west, Kings Cross St Pancras and further NE along the Victoria line towards Finsbury Park. Had an interchange between the two, such as at Oxford Circus or an expanded Bond Street, been considered, or was it a) too costly, and/or b) going to lead to the Elizabeth Line overwhelming the Victoria line (and/or vice-versa)?

Pretty sure there is a staff only link to Oxford circus, so a full link was studied but b) influx of passengers either way would have been too much for either line.

Remember Crossrail 2 is/was planned to have a station at Tottenham court road, and would provide an express service relieving the Victoria line between Victoria and Euston/St Pancras and on to Tottenham Hale.

It’s only a short walk across Hannover Square between the eastern entrance to Bond Street and Oxford Circus. I quite often use that route and it’s a nice opportunity to stretch one’s legs and get a breath of fresh air mid-route.

IIRC they studied an Oxford Circus full interchange and decided the station and surrounding street level entrances would have been overwhelmed. The secondary entrances at Dean St and Hanover Square are deemed close enough to deal with people heading to the Oxford Circus area at street level.

The Elizabeth line also lacks an interchange with the Piccadilly Line, which means a large area of South west zone 1 (Victoria, Pimlico, South Kensington etc) is reasonably hard to access from it. I presume Crossrail 2 was intended to provide access- it would have stopped at Victoria and a Kings Road Chelsea station.

Very deliberately not - to spread usage out along Oxford St's other stations, and due to the inability to enter at busy times already. Hence why the double-ends of Bond St and TCR are in the catchment (Hanover Sq and Dean St) - they relieve Oxford Circus, especially for Central line users.

Also the Victoria line is slammed.

You can get the Circle Line to Victoria and South Kensington from either Paddington or Liverpool Street.

It's also an out of station interchange.

The street-level interchange via Hanover Square from the east end of Bond Street Liz Line to Oxford Circus is simpler than some of the below-ground interchanges on Crossrail.

The Elizabeth line’s biggest missing link is an interchange with C2C. Later this month a bus service (B1) will start running 3 times an hour from Basildon & Laindon to Harold Wood Elizabeth line. It will be interesting to see the uptake.

Except on Saturdays when C2C serve Stratford and Liverpool Street. :D
