Just on the TRU engineering works website and am a little (almost pleasantly) surprised that nothing is happening on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Maybe I've spoken/written too soon (!)

Railway code "GFL" is on new TRU OHLE masts between Huddersfield and Leeds.
Does it denote Greenfield to Leeds? It's the only logical link on the route I can think of.
The distance is based on zero km from Manchester Victoria, which is also where NR's North East route meets the North West route.
Any other ideas?
Another oddity I noticed today is that the masts between Neville Hill and Micklefield are plated HUL with the km measured from Hull (ie descending eastwards).

The ELR HUL 1 - 4 would be correct with Zero mile at Hull and also Zero at Selby East jcn

Significant numbers travelling to Leeds Festival and other events. Leeds Fest is also a substantial drain on the bus hire market which would mean RRB would be difficult to recruit.

Although HUL is the Engineers' Line Reference as mentioned, the ELRs for the route via Huddersfield re MVL (presumably Manchester Victoria to Leeds) and MVN (Manchester Victoria to Normanton for the ex-L&Y section through Mirfield), both with number suffixes.
As far as I can see on railwaycodes.org.uk, GFL is not an ELR for anywhere, nor does it fit with the old system for OLE numbering which assigned codes starting with G to any route that branched ultimately off the WCML.

I wonder when the last time that 1955 lettering scheme had any attention paid to it. Possibly the Heathrow Express scheme?

Normally a bank holiday weekend is an excuse to put on buses!

Massive ‘King’ crane and 3 HGV full of weights just passed my house heading for Deighton station works, must be some heavy lift going on this weekend

Latest excellent Youtube Videos from On track with Tim and Sarah bell show progress on the baker viaduct and bridges in that area.
Not much activity at Whitacre bridge Deighton.
Leeds Road and Calder road bridges still undergoing utility diversions.
Colne bridge looks well on and should open 17th July. Didn't note any lighting.
Baker viaduct 2 girders protruding over the river so only one span left to complete end to end. I don't know much about cortan steel but the latest girders look quite grey compared with previous.

Isn’t Colne Bridge Road bridge the one getting its final tarmac laid and is almost complete?

I believe it rusts over time, but unlike other steels the rust stays in place and prevents further rusting.

The grey is how it looks fresh out the factory. As soon as it gets any rain on it the colour will change. There just isn't much rain around at the moment!

Colne Bridge Road is reopen, drove over it an hour ago on my way home from work albeit with a 20mph restriction as the resurfacing isn’t fully completed but presumably it needed to be reopened to allow the Leeds Road bridge to be closed this weekend.

Sleepers are down for what will be the up fast for about a mile from the end of Huddersfield viaduct towards Deighton and the track bed is ready for sleepers most of the way to Deighton.
As far as I could see all the frames for the canopy extension at the Leeds end of Huddersfield station are in place and they are filling in between the platform faces of what will be platforms 5&6.
Progress seems so rapid that this will be out of date by tomorrow.

No photos but looks like work on the new cutting at Heaton lodge seems to be picking up, lots going on including what at looked like a membrane covering being installed on the cutting sides when I passed on Wednesday 15th

We are largely moving into
Cutting has been largely complete for a good while awaiting track works. The gas diversion at the Leeds end was taking some time, unsurprisingly.

Yes I know the main cutting has been done for quite a while, it’s the Leeds end now that they have started work on, newly installed coverings fitted

And they were rolling out what appeared to be artificial grass mats on one slope at Heaton Lodge yesterday. Has anyone else spotted this, is that what it really was or did my eyes deceive me?
