Need to make my way from Manchester Airport to Morecambe with at least 2 trips on Metrolink Z1 and 2 and more likely 4, after 1600

Manchester-Morecambe is fixed and can be an Advance, Manchester Airport to Manchester needs to be flexible

I have a 16-25 railcard, do I just get a Manchester Airport - Morecambe Off-Peak single together with a Metrolink 2 zones off-peak day travelcard

A two-zone (Z1+2) Metrolink Off Peak Travelcard is £3.50. The Manchester Airport->Morecambe Off Peak Day Single is £19.30 with 16-25 Railcard discount. Travel at or after 0900 with the rail ticket, and at or after 0930 with the tram ticket. Total £22.80. You'd be able to break your journey in Central Manchester with the Off Peak Day Single, if continuing to Morecambe later the same day, which you couldn't legitimately do with an Advance Single.

A single train ticket from Manchester Airport to Manchester City Centre is issued to MANCHESTER CTLZ and includes a free single trip on the tram in the city centre zone. So it depends how much travel you're doing, and where and when, on Metrolink as to the cheapest option. There are also options where tickets between two stations in Greater Manchester also includes the tram in the city centre zone, they have METROLINK CTLZ in the route field.

You're probably best off with an Airport-Morecambe single and paying as you go on Metrolink (just pay contactless- it's the same price). But off-peak it is £3.45 Airport-City Centre and £15.75 Manchester-Morecambe, so there is a very small saving of 20p by splitting tickets and you get one free ride on a tram in the city centre.

Cheaper still to split at Wigan :)

MIA - WGN flexible tickets allow a break of journey in town.

Wigan to Morecambe is £12.35.

My onward train is non-stop Man-Lancaster, so I ended up just getting a £10 advance split man-morecambe and a Manchester Airport-Manchester single
