Two of the former "asbestos shed" roads are, I beleive used by the preservation group to hold the VEP and 455.
If I am correct SETG has 7 & 8 shed roads. 9 shed road is long since removed (within the shed at least). 5 & 6 shed roads use to be CM&EE roads, and 1 to 4 shed roads were traffic roads, and of these 3 shed was a 6 car road, being shortened within the shed and 1,2 & 4 were 8 car roads. In more recent times 4 shed road was removed (within the shed) completely, 5 & 6 shed roads were out of use long term, leaving just 1-3 (traffic) shed roads, and it is these latter 3 roads to which I was referring, but as said, no idea of their current status?
The outside
short sidings,
to the West of the shed, as short as they were/are, were brought back in to (electric) use some years ago, possibly in relation to the SWT 10 car plan. Seems only a short while ago to me, but probably more years have past than I care to admit !
If Farnham has been cleared of stored 701/0s, then presumably there is currently some space there although perhaps that has already been earmarked for 701/5s awaiting the call to be commissioned
Pre 2019 Farnham depot was nearly full to capacity, including the new sidings at the Wrecclesham Road end. To allow for movements between the shed and the CET facility on the night shift, certain roads had to be kept clear of stock each night, and back then the depot was stabled up each night to within 6 cars of its operational capacity.
The reduced covid timetable has likely thrown up spare capacity within the overall network at certain places, whilst reducing capacity at others as a result of a number of units not being required each day. Hence perceived spare capacity at location F (for example?) does not necessarily mean location B still has as much spare capacity as it did pre covid.
