Basingstoke to Reading Saturday 4th July

The 0849 departure can be very busy so it is useful to have 0853 GWR as back up (starts from BSK so usually easy to get on). 0853 ran last Saturday and is in Realtime Trains for next few Saturdays. It isn't in RTT for this Saturday but I couldn't find any explanation on GWR's website. Ticket Searches don't offer it. Assume only alternative is to board 0823 GWR if arrival time in RDG is critical. (It's usually possible to reserve seats on 0849 even for this short journey but if you can't force your way onto the train, that's not much help).

Has GWR robbed the unit to increase the Henley branch for the heavy drinking with occasional rowing event?

GW trains are cancelled on the Reading to Basingstoke line to transfer the stock to the Twyford to Henley line to boost capacity when the Henley Regatta is on. This has been a long standing practice and very irksome it is.
