Unable to reserve seats via LNER app/web

If I try to reserve a seat for any journey (at any time and with any operator) using the seat reservation section of the LNER app or website, I get the message: "Sorry, no journeys can be found. Please try another search."

Has anyone else found this?

It only reserves on itineraries which include LNER. Which journeys are you searching for?

Ah, okay. I'd read somewhere that you can reserve seats with other operators via the LNER app, but that appears to be incorrect. I know you can do it from the TPE website, but it doesn't alllow you to choose a seat (and seemingly just allocates you a random seat, ignoring your preferences (window/non-table, etc) even when such seats are available).

TPE website/app seems to be the only one then that lets you reserve seats/make bike reservations for other companies' trains.
