Travelling on Friday instead of Wednesday (Avanti SP advance single ticket question)

I have an Avanti Standard Premium advance single for a journey today (Wed 24th), but due to the weather I now won't be travelling.

I was thinking of using this ticket on Friday instead, so I was going to reserve a seat for a train on Friday afternoon, as it looks like it will be busy on that day. However, I've noticed that there are no Standard Premium tickets available around that time, only Standard and First Class.

Could I reserve a seat (via the Transpennine Express website) for a train without SP tickets on Friday and use my SP ticket to sit in standard class? Just to add that I got this ticket from the Club Avanti reward scheme, in case that's relevant.

Thanks for any help.

Some Avanti services on Fridays do not have Standard Premium.
For example: https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...ass-seats-at-the-weekend.274909/#post-6968450
And even more confusing, I didn’t know that on a Friday there’s no Standard Premium available on the 09:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 16:30 and 17:30 departures from Euston to Glasgow. All three coaches (H, J and K) are exclusively for first class on those journeys. On other departures on Fridays and all day on other weekdays coach H is Standard Premium while on Saturdays and Sundays coaches H and J are Standard Premium and only K is First. You have to have your wits about you when travelling with Avanti...
You didn’t say what train you wanted to travel on on Friday.
However I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to do as you suggest.

I can see no reason an SP ticket would not be valid in Standard. You can always downgrade, similarly first class tickets can be used in SP or standard.

I also don't think reservations are required, so I suppose you could check SP (if your train has it) to see if there are any unreserved seats available/no shows (with a standard reservation as back up if desired).

Thanks everyone for the replies. In the end I didn't travel on Friday either, but possibly will on Tuesday.
