Chris Martin EMS - who has quite a good YouTube channel - was one of the emergency service personnel who responded to the accident near Bedford on 19th June 2026.
Having watched the video, the response of some road users does leave a lot to be desired though.

As part of a multi-agency response, I was sent to provide assistance at a major incident in the Bedford area. This type of incident has the potential, given the nature of events, to affect driving style due to anticipation of events to come. I feel there are elements of this in my drive here but mostly kept it calm but definitely more progressive then usual.

Love Chris' channel. Been glued to his videos for a year or so 8-)
The van driver is funny in the first part (after Chris gets blocked by the car overtaking the van)

As an ex-blue light trained driver, I will say that Chris's videos are excellent, especially where he criticises himself; we can all learn from our "mistakes".
What those two videos do show is how poor general drivers are in using their mirrors and also being aware of their surroundings.

And one comment about dual carriage ways; we are starting to see more people recoginsing that there needs to be a clear lane, so please if in the left lane please move over the left, and if on the right move close to the central reservation. In Germany it is compulsory to do this. And if there is a hard shoulder lane DO NOT enter it unless directed to so, or in a dire emergency.
