Warrington Bank Quay WBQ: parking to pick up train passenger

I have to collect (by car) a passenger at WBQ on Monday 29/6 about 1300. What is the best way to do this for me for parking etc? I think I will have to go and meet them off the train as they will have luggage, and otherwise we'll never find each other. Is there a "Kiss and Go", or "10 minutes free parking" or is the only option "Pay and Display" station car park. Apologies if this is a newbie question, but I am not familiar with the area, and wondered if there was a neat way to do this, or anyone with local knowledge etc.

WBQ is the station that famously introduced the 'no kissing' sign on the forecourt to make drop offs quicker.

There is a store just to the north of the station car park, it has the same entrance off Parker Street so you can't miss it (it keeps changing hands - Dunelm Mill, Poundstretcher, not sure exactly what it is now) that always has car park space. Going in and buying some small item you need anyway (e.g. some batteries) is usually better/cheaper than the station parking if you're doing a pickup.

It’s a bit of a hike to the store. Avanti stations generally offer 20 minutes’ free parking (in practice a few minutes more) in the official car parks and I believe that is the case at Bank Quay.

Since there’s only one entrance/exit, the passenger has to leave via the station’s front doors so there’s little danger of missing one another. In practice many drivers do simply wait with their vehicle at the station front, though I am not advocating abusing the disabled spaces or upsetting the taxi drivers.

True, although it depends how big the luggage is I suppose/how mobile the person is.

I always manage it no problem with a suitcase when being picked up there.

It’s Poundstretcher and it’s on average a 3 minute walk. You get 90 minutes in that car park

No need to apologise for a newbie question, I would imagine a lot of the forum members are not familiar the surrounding area.

I was picked up there once right outside, the road next to the taxi rank.
Looking on national rail it has a drop-off/pick up area, which is a bit vague:

The drop-off and/or pick-up point is accessed via a controlled road crossing such as a pedestrian crossing
This is a drop-off point only
There is space for up to 3 vehicles to drop-off and/or pick-up
There is no Help Point close to the drop-off and/or pick-up point

thanks for the updates. Having visited today, the station car park adjacent to the station entrance (to the left as you exit the station, up the steps) is very convenient, and Avanti give 20 mins free parking (or £2 for the first hour). If you walk through the station car park, you get to Poundland, as others have mentioned, which I didn’t investigate.
