LNER extreme heat fare acceptance

Hi all, first forum post :D

This morning I was on an LNER service where the Train Manager stated over the PA that “Advance fares that are not valid for this service will not be accepted” though this contradicts the information given on the LNER website, which state that tickets valid on the 23-26th are valid through the 23-30th without a change of ticket. Is there something I am missing?

No the LNER just haven't suitably briefed their staff, or the TM has forgotten the brief. You are absolutely correct about the acceptance, it's been communicated industry wide

I travelled yesterday with LNER, and while there was no mention of Advance acceptance, it was made clear that Lumo, Hull Trains, and Grand Central tickets were not valid

Train manager probably forgot to change their script. Some have it written down.

So an Advance ticket for a different service today wouldn't be accepted.

No.

Except that half the trains between London and Leeds today have been cancelled so they're valid on the train before and after or on a train to Doncaster and then Northern or TPE.

Yesterday's Advances, however, were valid on any train until Monday.
Edit: that's been extended to today's Advanced.
