I was on the Preston to London Lumo service on Friday. I noticed the seat reservation displays were all saying not reserved. Are they usually like this on the 222s?
They were and are unreliable with EMR and can't imagine they have been upgraded by Lumo,
Not quite sure how you can run down a seat reservation system......They only became unreliable when EMR/Hitachi started running them down...

Part of it is the signal for downloading the following service especally around London. With the transfer to 810's there are now no reservasions on 222's just incaste the two classes get swapped in the day for example. They only became unreliable when EMR/Hitachi started running them down...

Reservation indicators on the 222 worked well for years, their failure to work started before the 810s were introduced. Just happened to coincide with Hitachi taking over.
Same coincidence happened with the 222 lavatory situation; soap dispensers and water used to always work, now it's a rarity; also vestibule door push buttons similarly.
Might just be DfT instruction to cut down on maintenance expenditure.
It's been a very long time since I can recall any issues with Voyager reservation displays. In fact I find Hitachi's products far more temperamental than the 22x family these days! So I do reckon if there's an issue with them it's something related to maintenance rather than an inherent flaw. They never worked properly on the Voyagers and they're exactly the same displays...
Not true, there been unreliable since day 1. Still describing it as teething troubles 20yrd later....They only became unreliable when EMR/Hitachi started running them down...
They've always been rubbish. They rely on a phone signal to work and it's decidedly hit and miss at platform level at Sheffield, Nottingham and St Pancras with the canopies. Same as the WiFi has been rubbish since it was brought in.Reservation indicators on the 222 worked well for years, their failure to work started before the 810s were introduced. The push buttons for the doors were killed by COVID cleaning, constantly being sprayed all day long did them no good.
) but joining at a calling point, so generally my experience was that they were working. They never worked properly on the Voyagers and they're exactly the same displays...
Main problem is that when a Voyager vehicle goes into low power mode they are turned off. 222 software may be different in this regard though so do they fail less often?
Veering off topic I know, but I travelled in a Pendo coach K on Saturday and the reservation lights cycles around green- orange- red. Particularly interesting on the single seal side as BOTH lights lit up. Never seen that before...
