Just saw this on Railcam at Watford, and checked out its routing, thinking it might go through Nuneaton up the Trent Valley. Found out it now goes via Coventry-Bescot- Penkridge. When did this occur and is it the norm? Why is this?

Trent Valley blocked for engineering access I would assume.

Looking at RTT today's schedule appears to be a VSTP control path.
It could be diverted via Bescot for pathing reasons, as the WTT appears to normally run overnight, or for staffing reasons if the only available drivers needed to change at Bescot for knowledge or hours reasons.

The slow lines south of Stafford on the Trent are closed due to heat-related issues. Sending it via the West Midlands takes a train out of the equation at the bottleneck.

Aren't these Garston car trains on odd wagons that even as a class 6 cannot go 60mph and are 50mph? If the slows are shut, you clearly don't want long class 6 trains clogging it up, even worse if they run at 50.
