This is absolutely a fair point. That said, if I was a heritage railway short of money (I'm a volunteer at one, but not one myself!!!!!!) then I think ensuring sufficient steam locomotives were available to run the service would be a priority for what budget I had. I would suggest that ability to deliver a steam service is one of the most important things both reputationally and also a consideration for many prospective visitors.

RTT shows the inward ECS delayed around an hour in the Willesden area.
According to the RTC facebook it is due to "over running engineering work which delayed our start"

I would say here steam4max I visited the embsay and Bolton Abbey steam railway gala in June 2025 and alot of west coasts carriages had been sent there they still had the west coast railways Black and golden logos on the outside and still had inside them the jacobite F and B above the seats and perspex sheets above the seats and still the brass bolts on the doors.

I don't know where you got that information from, but it is incorrect in several areas.
It'll likely be a Mk. 2 set off Carnforth. The Cambrian tour used the Southall set.

I've just seen this video on YouTube and went searching on here for a thread mentioning it. I've never seen a loco running tender first on a railtour before!
The Kyle of Lochalsh leg of the GB in 2024 and the Mallaig leg of the GB this year involved tender first running. Also seem to recall a VT Shakespear Express running tender first between Snow Hill and Stratford a couple of years ago.
Railtour locos heading for Ravenglass always used to turn on the triangle in the nearby MOD depot at Eskmeals. Is that no longer available or accessible? Possibly it would require the attendance of a Network Rail Mobile Operations Manager to work the ground frame.
The welsh mountaineer when west coast still had the M.K. 1 Coaches used to have to run tender 1st from Chester turning the loco on the triangle at Chester depot to Llandudno Jct to run round there and run chimney 1st up the Conwy valley line to Blaenau Ffestiniog.
