THE CITADEL CIRCLE

BOOKINGS NOW OPEN

125 Group are pleased to announce that we will be taking our HST to Carlisle on Saturday July 25th

Working with our good friends at Retro Railtours, who will manage all aspects of the bookings on our behalf, “The Citadel Circle” will operate from Manchester Victoria, with pick up points at Crewe, Stoke-on-Trent, Derby Chesterfield, Sheffield and York.

The train will then travel north on the East Coast Main Line and should demonstrate its full speed capability before taking the spur from Low Fell to Norwood Junction for a more leisurely run across the Tyne Valley via Haltwhistle to Carlisle for a break.
The return will be via the West Coast mainline direct to Crewe (with connections for Manchester available – but not included in the fare), before completing the circle for everyone by retracing our steps to set down at Stoke, Derby Chesterfield and Sheffield. Our final set down will be at Wakefield Kirkgate.

First Class and Standard class seating will be available on board and a counter service buffet serving hot and cold food and drinks will be available throughout.

Timings will be made available as soon as these are received and will be confirmed when your e-tickets are sent out.

We look forward to welcoming you all aboard “The Citadel Circle” on the 25th July.

Is this just a clarification of setting down at Stoke and other connections? Really nice railtour, I'm pondering hitting this and the Avon Gorgeous up back to back if my bank can take it.

I'm a bit curious that Stoke isn't an available pick-up option on the booking page, despite being mentioned in the description. I suppose the ticket price will be the same regardless of which option is chosen, but it would have me a bit concerned on the day that it'd just pass straight through without stopping.

Apologies. Stoke is a pick up. Retro adjusting the website in due course.

Appreciate that detailed timings will be issued nearer the date, but I can’t see any provisional times for this tour?

I’m interested, but would need to be assured I can easily get to/from the tour from home - preferably without using the car.

I believe its Retro use e-tickets but am checking. Routing is via Swinton and Hare Park between Sheffield and Wakefield Kirkgate.
