I hear that the second referendum question on Sunday work and harmonisation of terms across Northern passed, with a very narrow majority?

However, the proposal fails despite that. I would expect no changes any time soon as a result.

480 voted for extension of DOO? Wow. Surprised that figure was anything other than 0! :)
That is the name of the dispute given by the RMT. There has been no proposed method of operating which included the driver closing the doors for many many years now.

Oh dear. Not sure how ballots can be in good faith if the name used for them doesn't accurately define what they are about.

Technically it's still the same dispute from pre-2020. So it was an accurate definition of what it was about until around seven years ago, but things have rather changed since.

Remove the principle of the matter regarding transfer of responsibilities to the driver, I'm not surprised in the specific case of the CAF units that people would be in favour - they are terrible units to work as a guard on stopping services.

To be fair I could see how driver release would make guards' lives easier generally...particularly where (like on Northern) they are flogging tickets, though admittedly not as often as they used to. Fair enough :)

Indeed. Personally my current earnings this financial year are on track to breach 50k come end March. I generally work all booked Sundays and a similar portion of overtime, which I don't consider excessive by any stretch (others may do much more). The recent offer certainly falls short by 4k-5k. There's simply no appetite to hand over on a silver plate what we currently have.....for less reward.
How many hours a week does this entail? and it's with northern? I'm not with this TOC just curious
