Journey planner with step-free / accessible option.

Can anyone reccommend a app or web-based journey planner which can be used to plan itineraries with step-free / accessible stations, especially on cross London journeys via London Underground?

The official TfL journey planner can provide this information for journeys even those not in London. Select “step free to platform only” in the advanced settings.

Just a heads up - I have found that Google Maps occasionally has mistakes in the step free info. Eg telling me to exit at Monument when it isn’t step-free.

So the TfL planner as mentioned is probably the best option. Citymapper is OK and has a step-free mode.

You should also check for lifts that are out of service on the day of travel. TfL’s journey planner does account for these, but it can change quickly.

You can do this with the free TfL Go App. Broken lifts will show up as a black and yellow wheelchair.

Alternatively the up down London website is good for checking lifts but it only shows TfL lifts and not national rail ones I think.

I have raised it before, but I do wish TfL's information, alongside step-free, also included non-escalator options e.g. ones which may involve steps, but are not dependent upon using an escalator. Many guide dogs cannot use escalators, but stairs are no issue for visually impaired people.
