I’m trying to plan a bit of a tour in the north, without a car. Part of that plan includes staying in or near Halifax over the first weekend of August this year, mainly so I can attend the Pennines Bus Day happening on 2 Aug.
However, the town centre Premier Inn is fully booked. Other hotels are also fully booked or highly inflated in price. For example the Halifax Travelodge is quoting over £600 for 3 nights. I’ve never paid that amount for a hotel stay, and I’d rather it would be somewhere luxurious if I ever did!
Does anyone know what is happening in Halifax? I’m hoping the excellent knowledge of this forum will help. There must surely be some kind of big event going on, but despite an extensive search online I can’t work out what it is!
Where would be a better alternative to stay? Huddersfield, Manchester, Leeds, Bradford are reasonably close to catch a train (I’m aware Huddersfield would involve a bus).
