NS is a horrible, plastic, hateful railway. It's basically stuck in the 1980s with those nasty plastic seats and low-grade interiors, which have been perpetuated in the ICNG.

I was just coming here to say the same thing about the DB Museum, which is a real pity. The ones in Mulhouse in France and our own York Railway Museum are considerably better.

I guess it really comes down to personal taste and what you're looking for in a museum. I liked the York museum and DB Museum, but was underwhelmed by the Mulhouse museum

I've been in Germany this week...
Outbound, I flew to Frankfurt and then the short hop to my destination. For my return to Frankfurt, I decided to trust Deutsche Bahn.
My scheduled 2½ train ride turned into an over four hour journey... and a consequential missed connection

A late reply, but I visited the DB Museum last year, and thought it was excellent. The App gives more English information.
I found the exhibits on reunification and German railways under the Nazis especially interesting.

Just to put a different tone to reliability of DB.
Ive just returned from a trip which I encountered zero reliability issues
with DB. Paris to Strasbourg( the Frankfurt ICE train)
Strasbourg to Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe to Munich followed by regional to Passau.
Passau to Vienna (ICE)
Nuremberg to Dusseldorf,
Dusseldorf to Aachen and ICE train to Brussels.
i always have a plan B , whether it’s France, Italy or Germany.

I travel through Germany at least a dozen times per year, often longer distances. About half of the journeys work fine with little delay, and the other half have delays of usually 1 or 2 hours. So indeed I also always have a plan B.

I find the regional trains are usually fine... as are the S-bahn local trains
My experience with ICE is woeful
I've had to rely on DB a lot in recent years. Although I've experienced disrupted services many times, they've never scuppered my travel. Often, I'll find my planned train to be seriously delayed or even cancelled, but there's a previous one running late that'll do nicely instead!
My biggest delay in the last nine months of DB travel has been due to the last DB train of the calendar day running on time, and an ÖBB cancellation and Westbahn delays leading to me missing it.

As others have said, DB’s reliability (especially long distance services) can leave a lot to be desired.
That said, an impromptu “tour” yesterday to use the last day of a 10 day Inter Rail demonstrated that when it works, it can be quite impressive!
06:38 Berlin-Munich (to Erfurt) was 10 late leaving, but some spirited running saw that reduced to 6 mins. Train 2 to Bamberg was on time.
Third train (An RE service) was on time. Train 4 was an IC Nuremberg-Stuttgart which despite a 10 min late departure, was only 1 late at Stuttgart.
Next was the Graz-Frankfurt, 10 late from Stuttgart but only 4 late into Frankfurt.
Lastly, the 16:02 Frankfurt to Berlin which left about 5 late, but notwithstanding an at times, leisurely pace (must have a padded schedule), saw an early arrival at Berlin Hbf at 19:59!
