If you were going to do that you'd probably have to relocate the library. My problem is that I don't know what occupies the land up to Brill Place. I assume those other buildings are part of the library complex but I'm not sure.
I guess the other question is what the site is big enough for...
The problem is having a long and narrow work site. Access to machinery, builders tripping over each other, etc, etc.
I can perhaps live with a two stage (which would still require sending some trains elsewhere) but even then there will be issues in terms of the necessary engineering to...
That was my original inclination. The problem is you're not going to take over a public park in London and get away with it unless its very clear its temporary.
You could build a permanent station that's simply buried but again that's more costly and you'd also have to do it in conjunction...
I already have. The current project is a multi billion pound game of twister. A temporary station is quite likely going to be cheaper and its absolutely going to be a lot faster.
Its not there to cover its own costs. And you can move some of the retail over.
What its for is to save money and time on Euston. Not just the engineering costs, but the disruption. And when you think about it, its also a path towards getting the above-Euston-station development happening a lot...
My suggestion is to use the southeast corner of Regents Park. The tie-in would be via a short tunnel to the other side of the canal. (I don't know what to call the site but it looks like a stabling yard).
The connection to the underground would be via Regents park and Great Portland Street...
I've already mentioned the southeast corner of Regents Park (and yes I'm well aware of British sensitivities, but it is after all a temporary station).
I assume the shed you're talking about is the one north of Granby Terrace? That would probably be too small to transfer the whole station but...
Bring back the Luftwaffe!

In all seriousness watching this from the other side of the planet I still wonder whether the best answer to Euston is to simply build a new temporary station and then you're free to do what you like to the old...
My original intent in using that corner of Regents Park was to build a terminal station both for HS2 and to take over the functionality of Euston. Its a location where you could feasibly redirect the incoming lines that currently go to Euston.
Then once Euston station is made vacant you can...
I wasn't asking for simple answers. I was just asking if anyone has a link or two that points to HS2s exhaustive consideration of its London station options. Ok?
Oh yeah, See ya next year :)
Seriously, I have looked here too, but I've yet to find a document that shows HS2 going to the kinds of lengths I think are needed. Yes I've seen several of their reports dealing with alternatives to their original Euston proposal, and their backflip, and their...
