I was given a $35 travel voucher when The Floridian was caped at Savannah due to the wild fires in April earlier this year.
Everyone had to get off at 4am and wait three hours for The Silver Meteor ( which left crush loaded) to Jacksonville for buses forward.
I changed my plans and went back...
I've just come back from a month long trip around the states using a 30 Day Rail pass.
In the Dining Car breakfast was 20 USD, Lunch 25 USD & Dinner 45 USD.
Breakfast was probably the best value but the Lunch was made up of items that you could buy from the shop on a plate.
Even after buying...
Just passed through Oslo Gardermoen in transit from Narvik to Gatwick (so already airside).
It took less than 5 minutes with just the four fingers of the right hand scanned and destination asked.
Both of the southbound services from Narvik were cancelled yesterday..it's the first time that i've seen three Rc6s in the carriage sidings from the bus to Lofoten this morning.
Yes, but I would liked to have gone to New York from Florida and back through to New Orleans and then across to LA but all the trains were shown as booked out for days on end using the rail pass.
I've done them in the past so i'm happy with what I have managed to book with a few two day breaks...
I bought one last week for £187 and some of the trains that I was hoping to travel on were 'Limited Availability' and could not be used with the rail pass - but they were available to purchase as a separate ticket..ie, I had to buy a Portland - Seattle - Spokane ticket for 53 dollars to complete...
Just checked and I bought a ticket via the Entur App on 18/12 for the 300 bus at 12.40 from the airport into Narvik on 10/03 for 33 kr - which was a very reasonable £2.43 for a senior single ticket.
I hope that it all works out for you.
I'm flying to Evenes airport to get to Narvik and onto Abisko in early March myself.
My worst experience was when I arrived back into Stockholm nine hours late ( on a sixteen hour journey) and missed my flight.
I thought that the railway company would...
I was out there in October and it was pictures of the eyes and the four fingers of your right hand followed by a few questions then a stamp in the passport on both the entry and departure.
Where are you taking the bus to from Narvik? If it's Tromso loads of people miss that one off of the Stockholm sleeper train but there is another bus a few hours later.
Re Abisko, I would get off at the east station (Ostra) as the waiting area at the station has much better facilities and the...
Did the 11 27 Carlisle to Preston via the S&C today with 805.005 & 805.010.
805.007 had spent the night on the platform at Carlisle after failing yesterday.
805.001 was dispatched to drag it to Oxley Sidings but they were still having problems when we departed at 11.35.
The 16.07 from Preston...
I was out there in November. The Helsinki to Kolari overnight service (train 269) runs twice a week and the 28XX diesel comes on at Oulu.
You can get off at Tornio East and walk across the border into Haparanda in Sweden - they share the same bus station and you can get back to the main line at...
