Thanks everyone for the information.i think it was more of an address check.got an email saying all pre employment checks completed and am now in the process of agreeing on a start date.

Just been offered a job by network rail as a maintenance operative, medicals completed ,was told at the appointment am a level 1 so all good. Checked my credit report and saw a search by network rail.is this part of the pre employment screening.
