Right now I'm modifying the brakes of an already existing Class 150 model so I haven't touched that part but if you have this data I'd love to take a look at it!
The assumptions seem sound, I'll try to achieve around 7.6%g average deceleration in the simulator I'm modelling the trains (which was the reason for my question). Thanks for all the help!
From the an earlier thread I made I was told that the HAA MGR wagon has a brake force of 10t in both tare and loaded configuration. So when loaded the wagons have pretty poor braking performance. I've noticed that there were several types of MGR wagons developed (HAA,HBA,HCA etc) that have...
Sorry for the late reply and the (perhaps) daft question: If you took a number of class 150's and braked them in step 3 from 75mph (let's say), would you expect the average deceleration to be close to 7.6%g or is this just a minimum "academic" value so the real average might be 8% or 9%g?
Does this mean that the 7.6% of g figure was never really an expected value in deceleration for a Class 150 but rather a minimum strictly taken from the braking curves?
So to confirm, if a Class 150 were put into emergency on a flat stretch of track at 75mph, with good adhesion and the Class 150 behaving nominally, it should take around 45 + T seconds (where T is half the time needed to achieve max brake cylinder pressure and 45 sec is calculated from t = v/a...
Wow, I had given up hope that someone would answer this thread. Thanks for the reply!
The reason for my asking for these figures is because I am implementing thread brake physics in the software Train Simulator 2020. I have made it so that the brakes achieve a maximum brake force close to 0 in...
I know I've seen deceleration figures and/or stopping distances for EMUs such as the Class 375/377 and trains such as the HST (9%g) but does anyone know what the design max deceleration would be for a tread braked Sprinter?
Do these DMUs have enhanced emergency brakes (or perhaps that is only...
I know the Desiro and Electrostar trains are made by different manufacturers and behave differently, but rather than start a thread for each I thought I'd combine my questions into one thread.
These questions are sort of "fact checking" questions for the realism of Train Simulator 2020 (which...
I'm still not entirely convinced that the UIC method of converting brake forces to decelerations can be applied on UK trains (even though comparing the brake force on the Class 66 TOPS and the one printed on mainland EU EMD 66 are very similar) so I'd like to try a sanity check.
HHA hoppers are...
Hi Pat, I don't know what NJA is either haha. I saw the name while looking at IOA and JXA wagons but I can't find the link again. In any case the combinations you posted should be enough for that type of wagon. Is BZA (or BAA or BLA, BCA) missing from your documents?
Last question: Do you...
Thanks for your help so far Pat.
I did some checking and it seems the Class 66 has a "brake force tonnes" figure of 68 on the TOPS panel (that I could find at least). Looking up the brake weight for EU EMD 66 the figure is 66 or 66 tonnes in G-brake. Seeing as these are so similar it may just...
