    I think both platforms on Parson Street (the station after Bedminster if travelling towards Taunton from Bristol) were also re-extended by roughly the length of a carriage. The original platforms are still in place, so it was just a matter of removing the old surface (paving slabs?) and...

    Good idea. It would certainly have been cold and uncomfortable! The repair looks pretty sturdy and hopefully addresses the cause of failure as well as any of the additional concerns posted up thread.
