A Panther LE might work on routes like the Hexham > Newcastle express routes by GNE (could be abit tight going round Ovington on X84) or used on the SD workings of route 685 Carlisle > Newcastle.
At a guess, that could be due to isle of Skye school contracts requiring less capacity than the...
GNW (former First) route 100 has one dead run from Cheetham to Hollins Green on a morning,at around just under 14 miles
First Hunslet Depot has dead runs on a morning to Huddersfield & Emley for the contracted runs on 232 at about 20 & 17 miles (later running dead from Wakefield to Middleton)...
Do Stagecoach have enough room at their Middleton & Ashton depots to take on anymore former First routes?
might sound like a long shot, but could replacing Oldham with an outstation somewhere in Saddleworth for routes 83/180/184 be an option & let other operators take on the other routes - call...
I agree with most of your observations,One of the main reasons Leeds is seeing such investment is also because of the Low Emissions zone due at some point next year, the odd thing is that it seems to be mostly the older cascades that the rest of West Yorkshire are getting, compared to the...
Yorkshire Tiger tried did this with the Ex-HJC routes,in 2015 bringing them into the 500 number range that most Halifax routes have used for years. the Rye Lane service went from service 36 to 511,Highroad Well went from 28A to 540 (not sure why it was numbered 28A,as i dont think there was ever...
Problem is,it's at the wrong end of the route for peak flows (towards Manchester in the morning/towards Leigh/Atherton in an evening) The other option to reduce dead milage would be introduce extra morning trips out of Manchester & into Manchester on an evening, but i doubt it would help much.
The bus service from Winlaton serves more than just Newcastle,It serves the business & industrial parks around the Chain Bridge & Scotswood Road area & the College at the end of Scotswood Road,so it is possible a number of journeys from the Blaydon/Winlaton area are not all just for Newcastle...
There is a couple of issues with this idea, firstly some people simply do not like taking the tram for various reasons (Anti-social behaviour, overcrowding at peak times & such) with trains also being overcrowded already at rush hour, without trying to add what are currently bus passengers into the...
Halifax to various major shopping centres:
- The M62 to White Rose (then onto Leeds) & more recently the X80 (also serving Birstall Retail Pk,but only in 1 direction)
- The M60 to Trafford Centre (Starting in Bradford) what was then replaced by an extension to service 560 (or possibly 561)...
Leeds has Transdev 7 (Leeds - Harrogate) & First 7 (Leeds - Primley Park) plus used to have 2 Stagecoach X62s (Leeds - Huddersfield Now Withdrawn & Leeds - Hull)
& going by VOSA,Newcastle will have 2 route X47s from Eldon Sq soon, the current one to Kingston Park & the current GNE service 47...
Arriva Yorkshire has a fair few:
Heckmondwike Depot: 200/1/1A & 229 all use a Mix of Wright Eclipses,Wright Gemini 2s & the odd East Lancs Lowland
Wakefield Depot: 117/195/196/174/481 all use a mix of DDs & SDs,with evening & sunday services mainly using the smaller Enviro 200s. 148/149 also...
That would be a smart idea by Lothian, but First could always do a add on/discount ticket for tourists using their Transpennine Trains into Edinburgh, possibly doing it online/Mobile only so they would get the revenue before Lothian even had a chance to get them onboard.
East Scotland have the 'One Ticket' what covers various zones (but oddly i do not think there is an all zones version),with both Bus Only & Bus & Train versions

Whilst Dundee also have their own more local version, the ABC
