Half of rail firms have low satisfaction levels

Finally, someone else who gets the point I was trying to make. I haven't looked at the Passenger Focus survey and I'm not sure of it's relevance to the point I was making. It's conclusions could differ for all manner of reasons, sample size being only one. Also, was the ad hominem attack...

Half of rail firms have low satisfaction levels

If that is true then it is concerning and does have implications for the accuracy of the results. The assumptions I was making about the sample size were based on that sample being collected using appropriate techniques. However, we can see from this that sample size alone is not enough to write...

Half of rail firms have low satisfaction levels

As I thought then, the opinion arises from a 'common sense' approach to surveys rather than any expert knowledge on surveys, statistics and sampling. A sample of 7000 is perfectly acceptable for a survey of this nature. A sample of 300,000 is wildly impractical as it would cost far too much...

Half of rail firms have low satisfaction levels

In regards to all the comments that are moaning about sample size, do you genuinely feel that 7000 is an inadequate sized sample or are you just picking up on this because it's produced a negative result and this is the easiest critique to make?

    High Speed Two (HS2) discussion

Does anyone know what this could be? It wouldn't surprise me if it simply refers to the announcement for the route of phase 2.

    WCML disruption near MKC 8/8

Got caught up in this mess on the 1815 MAN-EUS. From what I saw when going past MKC 390028 had been involved with the wires coming down and had to be rescued (by a Cl 57?). The wires were a right mess and, from what I could see, one of the pantographs on 390028 was damaged as well.

    Olympic Journey Travels

Stratford was an absolute nightmare at about 5.30pm today. Looks to be the first time they've tried implementing the one way system through the central tunnel and it was chaos. One way system seemed a bit unworkable as you still need to walk against the main flow to interchange. This combined...

Conversation me and my mate had the other day about missing the last bus home

Would this be any different if a plus bus ticket was held?

Straw poll, Pendolino vs M3 coach

Having used both quite extensivly travelling COV-EUS and NOT-STP I can say that the Mk3 is by far the nicer environment to travel in. The only exception to this is the lack of power sockets in standard class but I'm sure this is down to the EMT refurb rather than anything inherent in the design...

Nottingham [NOT] - London St Pancras [STP] - Romford [RMF] via HS1

I quite regularly make the journey from Nottingham to Romford. Due to the offers that EMT run I usually use advance tickets to STP[/stn] and then use Oyster to get me to LST and then onwards to RMF. What would the best way to make this Journey on HS1 and change at SFA/SRA? The journey planners...
