I didn't know that. What I do know if that if you get into a complaint re. a ticket refund, having another company in the middle doesn't help. Even simple Delay Repay or Cancellation refunds are much simpler when booking direct, e.g. with LNER. Trainline is just yet another example of...
Trainline is dreadful, the app’s become like so many - full of extraneous rubbish (e.g. opt in hotel bookings) and general noise. And charges. And if you get into a complaint re. A ticket refund say, you have to deal with them as an intermediary which just adds pain. I’ve stopped using it.
Also heard at Oxford, often by an exasperated announcer. But passengers are distracted by a cacophony of announcements and printed information, most of which is unnecessary or overdone, such that they ignore it. Less is more. We’re herd animals and I don’t see this changing.

Oh no. This is bad on many levels. For the people involved, but also because I imagine the fall-out may simply be cancellation of all services above a certain temperature...
Rail ticketing is an abject disgrace designed to over-complicate, confuse, and push passengers towards unnecessary expense and anxiety. Singles only (bin returns), no peak/off-peak, no advanced nonsense - one ticket for one journey, on ANY ToC. If this means prices have to go up then we need an...
Further dialling up of the 'them and us' mentality. I hate gates. They often do not work reliably, people (me) faff about getting phones out and ready immediately prior leading to congestion, popping out to pick up a sandwich can be problematic. Not saying fare evasion isn't a problem, but don't...
I get that some parameters might have specific costs that are measurable, like last work days etc. but grief feels very subjective, unless translated into depression, lost days at work, medication etc. I do remember getting £5000 from a claim against an errant car driver who failed to notice me...
