I was at Colton Junction near York a couple of weeks ago. At the other side of the layby was a couple of blokes I didn't know. Way off in the distance a set of headlights appeared and one of these blokes pulled out his phone, glanced at it and then said to his mate 'this is the Colas 66'. Sure...
I saw an EWS 67 running light engine into York from the north at lunchtime last Saturday . I presume it was on its way to rescue something broken. I've not seen one of these in York before. Does anyone know where it had come from or what it was up to?
I've seen a few recent photos of Class 70's near York. I gather that they run coal trains between York and Ravenstruther coal loading terminal. Does anyone know if there'll be any of these running on Wed and Thurs next week (7th and 8th July) and if so, what sort of time at York.

I got diverted off the A1 last week and ended up waiting for a passing HST on the ECML at a level crossing near Cromwell. In a siding by the main line was a train, presumably waiting to be overtaken by the HST. The train comprised of a rake of burgundy carriages with a matching burgundy class 47...
