    Commercial traffic on canals/inland waterways

https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/26487159.transformer-units-travel-via-canal-barge-eggborough/ Transformers to Eggborough. My last post was in error, I'd misunderstood "National Highways' 'water preferred' policy" as them being the customer, but that was re. movement permits for oversize loads.

    Commercial traffic on canals/inland waterways

Casper's special cargo is some kind of large steel components for National Highways, transhipped at Goole off a larger coaster. A CRT crane barge has been borrowed to unload them somewhere.

    The "Name the Station" game

Sorry, I got distracted! 1. This station has a traditional lattice footbridge. 2. This station is regularly called at by loco-hauled trains. 3. Specifically, by 67+Mk4 rakes.

GBRf Class 99 - 30 locomotives now ordered

Agreed re. 90s - but 86501 was actually regeared, and often worked trains on its own that were otherwise allocated to pairs of standard 86s.

    Chiltern 165 on WMR services

Line closed between Stourbridge and Kidderminster due to a large fire which will have messed up the Snow Hill diagrams, so I presume it's covering for some of the fallout from that.

    EMR Regional and Connect refurbishments

I don't think that's the right thread - no mention of 221s there that I can see. It is discussed from here: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/stopgap-options-to-cover-for-delays-to-introduction-of-class-810-for-emr.281944/page-22#post-7883950

How would Selby (Great Heck accident) be different in 2026?

December 2023: RAIB - Collision between a passenger train and a fallen tree at Broughty Ferry A member of the public phoned Network Rail directly 12 minutes before the accident, but the signaller didn't answer their phone despite repeated attempts by the call handler. Phoning the police would...
