I emailed Merseyrail again Heres the Reply, Dear Mr Holt, Thank you for your recent email. I have spoken to our Planning and Performance Department, who advise me that the unit should be back in passenger service within the next month or so.

I saw 007 in the shed the other day but the one i saw with what looked like a 002 number that was outside near the back of the depot

well it's either the person at Merseyrail doesn't know 002 is back or it's another 507 with a very similar number

Iv been looking at Kirkdale depot and it looks like 507 002 has returned as i am sure iv seen it parked in the furthest part of the depot, has anyone seen it in Doncaster lately incase im seeing 507 007 instead?
